Those are some totaly awsome photos. I'll have to get my scanner going, so I can scan in some I recently found. Pictures from the Street Rod Nationals that were held here in Minnesota in 74. I just happened to be home on leave and went out there. Now all I need to do is find my power supply for the scanner. Again, thanks a ton for posting the photos.

Re: Chit Chat Specific To Minnesota Chapter
I went to this show when it was in duquion Ill...Man what a great show that was! Lots of beer, and birthday suits! That was the first show I took my wife to. I still ahve a couple T shirts. They later moved it to Joliet Ill. That was a bad show! The people went crazy they had the police out in riot gear. Helicopter's flying over head cops yelling..pepper spray..I sat on the tail gate of my truck with my wife. We were haven fun people watching They where doing hole shots and donuts in the middle of the main drag. Never seen people that just lost all common sense! When we saw the police locked arm and arm with there shields and clubs busting heads we went to are hotel room and chilled out for the night. That was the last time we went to the Street Machine Nationals.

Re: Chit Chat Specific To Minnesota Chapter
Yeah, I went to Doquion once. It was when my daughter was about two months old and didn't figure that pepper spray and infants would go good together so it was just a quick in and out. That was about 1989. I went once later when they had it up in Lima, OH but there probably wasn't 300 cars there. I thought it was a done deal till Nate posted this. Surely they don't act quite so bad. It was like you said, completely nuts.

Re: Chit Chat Specific To Minnesota Chapter
It was such a free for all at Duquion. The state boys just watched you drive by with a beer in your hand. But when it moved to Joliet they were trying to push the family show theme. With the new drag strip. But it all went up in smoke!
Oh ya...I was there in 89. That was the year I graduated.

Re: Chit Chat Specific To Minnesota Chapter
I know I am looking forward to it. Already have the day scheduled off from work. They know I go, regardless. Should have my dumps working for OPEN PIPES, this year. It'll just make it a tad louder don't you know.

Re: Chit Chat Specific To Minnesota Chapter
In the old days if you did anything stupid on the fairgrounds they would pull your windshield sticker but the cops were a tad more serious.

Re: Chit Chat Specific To Minnesota Chapter
Well, Things are starting to ramp up for CarCraft. Getting a new hood done up, and took the hotrod out for a little joy ride. I guess the tack weld on the tailpipe was not as strong as I thought. As I was leaving a parking lot, strange sounds emenating from underneat. Pulled over, and the tailpipe, or turndown, what ever you want to call it, was dangling from the muffler. Time to crawl underneath, and rip it of. Didn't even have the traveling tool kit. You know, it was still a great day to be out. Had Dad with, and he was just shaking his head mumbling something under his breath that I was not able to understand. Doesn't matter, Dad and I had a great day.
Re: Chit Chat Specific To Minnesota Chapter
All part of it. I got exhaust welded on at a muffler shop one time and made it about 5 miles down the road in my 69 GTO before the hanger broke. I ended up fixing it myself. I figured if it didn't make it any further than that why trust him to fix it. Glad you had a good day out with your pops. Those are special!

Re: Chit Chat Specific To Minnesota Chapter
Well, Insanity is ramping up at full volume. Got wild hair, ordered new carpeting, some exhaust pipe, 3-inch flanges, scrounged some interior paint from a friend, and now the thrash is on. Trying to get all that put into the hotrod for CarCraft. Not to mention, getting a new hood fabbed up and painted. Can you say The Height Of Insanity, or just plain old nutz. Anyhow, having a hoot of a time. Pops looks at me and just shakes his head. Then he mumbles something like, never guess where you get if from, with a chuckle under his breath. Learned most of my knowledge from Pops in the back yard, under a tree and at the wee hours of the morning. A whole lot of gratitude from me to him. Anyhow, I'll try to get some pics posted. Y'all take care.
