Grandma's old truck in the garage Empty Grandma's old truck in the garage

Post by Reb Stew January 23rd 2014, 10:37 pm

My nephew has been telling me about his girlfriends Grandma's truck she has in the garage. It's old he says. My idea of old and others idea of old are not the same. I ask him how old it was but he said he wasn't sure. Does it run? Nope the engine is in the bed of the truck. I figured it was an old 1971 Ford or something. A few days goes by and I ask him if he thought she'd sell it. I don't know he says. It just sits. I figure if it's an old beater it may be cool to get so I push on. I ask him if he can you get me some pictures and he tell me sure. Today I got to see Grandmas old truck that has been sitting in the garage for years with the engine in the bed.

I was a little shocked to see it was a 1929 Model A.

Wow, I've never seen a '29 Truck in that good of shape. I wonder why the engine is in the bed? Maybe to keep someone from driving away with it. Nice find though!

My nephew wants it. Hopefully he can work out a deal to get it. We will see. It's not stock. It has a Mustang II front end in it. If he gets it we are going to rip that stuff out and put a dropped I beam in it with a SBC.

Man that's a classy old sweetheart, ain't it. Someone did a nice job keepin the a frame suspension (mustang II?) hiding in plain sight. Hardly noticed it at first.

I'd go with a 289 just for the retro feel of it. That would be more than enough to move it!

I'm a bit partial to Lee's plan, but might find an old carbureted 3.8 from a rear drive cougar to stick in it.... light and easy to work on... still small and good on gas. Should have plenty of thunder..... but then I was always a little different.

I know it's the same old thing but I'd stuck with a Chevy it was me. I may run a 2300 if I could find one out of a Turbo T Bird. Now that would be cool.

Doesn't look like it's going to pan out anyway. Another family member has first dibbs

He's 18 and really into cars. He's never had a hot rod of his own. We need to find him something this summer so he can jump into this sickness we all have called cars...
