Short trip

Heading down in Kentucky to get some hot rod parts. Never know what I will run into so I'll have my camera with me.

Amy and myself took off for a little trip down to Corbin, Ky. Here are just a few of the pics we got.

We stopped in London, Ky to get a quick burger. As we were leaving we took these.
You know posted signs are just suggestions in Ky.


I just liked the sign on the bus.

Nothing interesting but you are seeing less of them now a days.


We found a cool rack from a store that we picked up for Sami and her 50 pairs of shoes then we hit the highway.

We took the second Corbin exit and cars seem to be laying all over the place.

What was left of an old garage.

On down the road we found this hi barb wire fence. The gate was open so in we went.




Around the back this Chevy was hiding.

We spotted this place and had to take a look.

The owner pulled up and ask what was up. I told him we were just checking out the cars. He ask us to get out and take a closer look. He started them all up for us and gave us a detailed description of each. Really nice guy.

Everything is for sale. $35,000.00 for the Nova. Yea $35K



You thought the Nova was hi? He told us he turned down $79,000.00 for this Ford.

When you get into southern Kentucky you will meet some interesting people. This guy was one of them. He walked us into his office and ask if we were Obama fans. We laughed and said no. He yells good! Check him out! He will be hanging there until he looses the race.

Before we could get out the door the guys pulls out him photo books and starts showing us all his cars. One being a very nice 54 Chevy truck. Everything he had was really nice. It was strange already then he shows us pictures of his baby.

We walked out and he followed us to the car. His final words were " if she ever throws you out come on back down. I have a cottage out back for you to stay in."

We ran around looking for a little while and grabbed these shots of once roaring but now sleeping rides on the road.

Back in the hills of Corbin, Kentucky we made it to where we going. Big Dog, Dennis Haddix's place.
We met his new wife, Very nice lady and he showed us around. He has a nice spread. We jumped in the truck and headed out to see the lake and what was on some of the back roads. I didn't grab the camera so no pics. Sorry.
I was wanting to try to find my Aunts house in Corbin and the kids were home by themselves so we had to cut our visit short. It was good to see Dog. He was looking good and had a smile that I hadn't seen on him in a long while. His choice to move south was right for him I believe.

Leaving Dog's house we ran into these.


I want one of these to make a lowered roll back out of.

I want to build another gasser and this would fit the bill.

We pulled into this lot and it was like I had went back in time to when I first started driving. Muscle cars with that 70's style.

Check out the flared fenders.

Look over the DONK Rims, and spray can painted flames and it's late 70's early 80's all over again

No I was aiming for the Mustang.

4 Speed T/A

If money was just a little better I would have brought this Mustang home with us. I have had a ton of them back when you could buy them cheap. 2 King Cobras and a slew of Cobras. This was a Cobra. All that was left was a sun baked fender decal they taped up before they painted it. I want one to put up and keep. I'd rather have a King Cobra but they are getting stupid money for them now.

I have a good story about my King Cobra if anyone wants to hear about it some day.

Back to trying to find my Aunts house.


We didn't make it too far. I'm nuts over old buildings and can't pass them up.

Another old motel meets it's doom.

This was suppose to be a quick trip down and back. I know the kids are old enough to stay home alone but I guess I worry too much. I ran up and down the road trying to find the street my Aunt lives on. I was only there one time and it's been over 20 years since I was there. I was starting to get a little hi strung but give it some thought and told myself that sometimes you just need to not worry so much. I gave up on trying to make it back at the time we told the kids we would be back. We was already late and we were 3 hours or more away from the house. Time to just mellow out and enjoy ourselves

For $3500 this rat truck could be yours. Pretty lady doesn't go with it.
