It now has new studs on the right rear axle. I know that for a fact. Saw them installed at the NAPA store.

Me too! Something involving a big hammer, multiple screw drivers and a grinder.

Re: Amy's 57 210 wagon
I been beating myself up over this wagon. Everyone knows I hate the thing but Amy loves it. If it was up to me it would be gone! I can't get into working on something I just don't like. If I don't feel it I'm just not interested. The mild custom look just wasn't working for me.
I love the old look of race cars and old street racer's. Street racing or the track is no longer a part of my life but looking at Steve Blades 57 and Rick's from the Road Devils 57 got me thinking about what I like. Now before anyone says I'm doing a copy of someones ride. Anyone that knows me have seen how many cars I've yanked the hoods off of and how I do my cars. So it's not a copy but something that I like.
We went to the Thaw Out at Pacemakers Drag Strip and Vickers ragged on me untill I took the broken wagon on the track.
To say I was bit by the drag strip is an understatement. I had a blast.
When I got home I was planning on dragging the T/A out and dropping in my engine I have for it. But that night I was showing pics to Amy of Ricks 57. She said she liked it.?.?.? I said you told me you didn't like the gasser look? She said yes I do, that is why I like my old 61. It sat high.
With that I was off and running. This is what has happened in the last 4 days.
Nothing fancy for the engine. Just going after the right look and then maybe the engine.
Before anyone says why did you do it! If you have to ask you wouldn't understand.
We started with the front bumper and Buick grille.
Then on to a bar so no one can back into the radiator.
Some trimming and on went a set of 30x9.5 Firestone pie crust slicks and a set of black steelie rims. Yeah they are tall but that helps me with the low gear the 57 has in it. It was a pain driving on the highway.
We also needed the front bar for the moon tank.
I mounted the tach inside today and did a few small things. I'm not putting a straight axle on it. If everything goes right I'm changing the front coils to a 62 Impala wagon spring with 409 and air. They say that will lift the front 3 more inche's. It will give it enough raise to give it the look I want. Maybe

Re: Amy's 57 210 wagon
One of the Road Devils had one at the Thaw Out for sale. 2 bills and I could have had an older one like I want. I'm not for sure who even had it. I don't have the cash for it. If I had something to trade I grab it and stick it on her. I may try to figure out who had it and see if he wants an SKSbig dogs 42 wrote:a tunnel ram and 2 4"s would look cool comeing through the hood.

I like it! It's always interesting how, you can be going one direction (buick grill) and then go the complete opposite. I've done it before. Money is usually what gets in the way of big switch for me too.

Re: Amy's 57 210 wagon
All joking a side. Everyone I know other than a few of the 40 plus members we have, are on a tight budget. We do what we can do and we should not ask for anything else. I think we all do a great job and help each other out when times are tough. I wouldn't fit in with some of the other clubs around here. Money is a factor in your status and that is not what this hobby is about. I've rubbed shoulder with all types but money doesn't make a person truthefull and honest. I said it time and time again. The guys and gals we have in the club all click good. It's like a second family to me.

Don't really want to fit into other clubs. Seen them, not really interested. Like you said, typically driven by money and how much "bling" on their cars. More driven by what they think others will think is "cool." I've found most of them end up with cars that aren't them. But then again they are having to define themselves by the car and not because of who they are.
RebStew wrote:It's like a second family to me.
I'll second that. Especially since I don't have family that lives around here.

Re: Amy's 57 210 wagon
I did a little more trimming on the inner fenderwells to get the slicks to fit. I found the trans leak and a new gas leak I didn't know I had. I will need to get to them soon. Me and Amy was seeing what 3" lift would look like.
The back end will go down another inch or so. She has air shocks are on the rear. So it will give it a up in the front look. I am not going after the gasser look. It will be mocked up as a G/SA class 1/4 mile runner. G class - SA stock automatic.
I also started laying out the name of the car on the front fender tonight. Working in the dark with Amy and Aryan taking turns at holding the light was interesting. It is just the outline and maybe today I will get some lettering paint and start on it.
