Hey I got a set of springs that should lower that about an inch. There the front springs from an S-10 and the rear springs from an Camero.

Re: 1987 Olds Cutlass
pulled it out the other day, still have minor things i must due before driving it.
1. hook up an electric fan
2. clean up some of the unneccesary wiring.
3. let it run and check for leaks.
4. fix the distributor hold down bracket i could not get it tight come to find out i have the bracket on wrong.
A BIG THANKS TO CRATETHIS FOR HAVING AN OLDS ENGINE IN JOHN'S GARAGE AND BIG THANKS FOR JOHN FOR BEING IN HIS GARAGE YESTERDAY. I LOOKED AT THE HOLD DISTRIBUTOR HOLD DOWN ON THIS ENGINE AND REALIZED I PUT MINE ON WRONG. THAT WOULD EXPLAIN WHY IT WILL NOT GET TIGHT... LOL

Yea... I'm glad that it was able to help you. I've got to get around to that motor. Now that the weather is getting better and if the truck can stay on the road for a while I should be able to get around to working on that beast.
Glad you got it worked out Riggs!

Re: 1987 Olds Cutlass
Why don't I see a new water pump? You already had it off, why not put a new one on. You spent all that time and money on everything else.

Re: 1987 Olds Cutlass
Once you get here running a little pressure washing that thing will be a solid street car for you...KUDOS
Re: 1987 Olds Cutlass
Well that $35 of preventative maintenance would have been worth wile since the old one was off. You bought a Cam, rockers, lifters, intake and carb. My vote since you bought new antifreeze and thermostat, the water pump would have been the smart thing to do.JRiggs wrote:yeah i should have put a new water pump on but funds were running pretty low. i spent enough as it was..

Re: 1987 Olds Cutlass
been reading on gbodyforum that the computer controlled distributor doesnt do good when you put in a cam and after market carb. so i bought a vacum advance distributor:
raining out today ill probably stick in there tomorrow or whenever it stops rainig.

Wow that is sweet for sure!! Sometimes small things like a bad a** dist and a nice set of plug wires can change the looks a lot. Kenny should know he has A VERY NICE set of wires he keeps in this little suit case thing that he has never used. How long have you had them? Like 8 years :!:
Re: 1987 Olds Cutlass
ha i know exactly what your talking about. kenny you should post a picture of your little suit case with the plug wires in it. i have a nice set of wires i was going to use on the sbc that is going in the 47 maybe ill go ahead and use those wires. god knows that engine isnt going to be ran in awhile. lol
