I was messing around trying to figure out what wheels i want for the truck. I borrowed Amy's WWW off her T bucket. Not sure if I like it or not.

These are Butch's Tru Spokes. I thought maybe with some white walls or black wall tires they would look ok. It doesn't fit the truck at all. You should have seen how fast these came off.

Yea. I still need to add my inner fenders and some strips at the ends of the wood but at least she has a bed.

I got some used but not abused wood from Riggs.

I wedged the wood in tight and then drilled holes through the edges of the strips of wood. Then dropped in some carriage bolts, washers will hole the wood.
Stewart's 1954 Chevy Shop Truck - Page 19 04510

I grabbed a pencil and marked the washers.

Time to play with the router. I wanted to counter sink the bolts so they would not stick up and snag stuff in case I slid a sheet of drywall or whatever up into the bed.

ALOT of sanding. This was rough cut wood and I wanted it to look rough and not real smooth but this had to be sanded like crazy to just get it to look half way okay.

First coat of poly

I had to cut some small pieces to use as fillers in all 4 corners.

I'll let the bed dry for a week or two and then sand it down with 320 grit. that will get the hi spots off the poly and then put on my 3rd coat of poly. She should look like it's wet by the time I'm done.

The old tool box is screwed in but can be taken out easy if I need to hall any 4X8 sheets. The gas filler will lay under the bed if I do need to put anything big in it. I'm also going to put the top tray in the tool box to carry some common tools we all need at times.
When I need gas I'll just open the tool box and in it goes.

Great idea on the tool box. You don't need a locking gas cap with that... just lock the box.
