I'm hoping to save the lettering on the door but I'm going to let father time do his work to see how the paint reacts with time. We got Corey's old tires off his rear rims. We will be doing the prep and paint on them soon. We also scored an older style visor that we have been looking for. They will be painted at the same time.

The mounts were moved up 2 inches on the frame. Here's the rear one.

A leaf was taken out of both sides and the flip kit was installed.

I was going to buy 2" longer shackles for Corey but after I started looking, the next set of holes were 2" lower so I just raised the hangers. After raising the hangers I had to cut a groves where the bracket was not flush enough to lay over the frame. Yeah I could have just cut it off flush but I figured the more metal holding to the frame the stronger it would be.
Corey's ?? Stepside Chevy - Page 4 DSCF3327

With the groves cut I started tapping on each piece to lay it over the frame. The welder was fired up and a few welds to the bottom of the bracket helped heat the top of the bracket to lay the 4 peices over the frame the way I wanted to.
Corey's ?? Stepside Chevy - Page 4 DSCF3329

The grove I cut was welded back together after a complete bead was around the bracket. I used two grade 8 bolts to hold it together plus the full weld so I'd say it's a lot stronger than the 4 ribbits that held it on from the factory plus it's a free 2" drop just doing the rear bracket.

Corey tighten up the shackle bolts and then shot a little spray bomb paint on the bare metal to keep the rust down. We will end up cleaning up the frame for some under carriage paint later on.

Other than a few small scratches this is the first war wound I have had from Corey's truck. I had a fine cut off wheel on my grinder trying to get into a tight spot when the grinder bounced off the frame and took almost 1/4 of an inch cut straight through the tip of my thumb. It went through the top of my fingerprint and came out the other side through my thumb nail. It was so quick and clean that I didn't feel it at first(pain) but man the next day was bad. You never know how much you use something until it's unusable. I'm going to lay off the truck for a week or so to heal and then try to get everything else done so we can get the bed back on.
bad pic but you can see what I'm talking about.

Around here first aid would have been a folded up McDonalds napkin and black electrical tape for a bandage.

Now that I have a garage space for a second I pulled Corey's truck in and did a few things to it. The visor went on it, still needs paint but it's on it. Also dropped the front end down 3 inches. Still has 2 more to go before it's where he wants it. Drop spindles will take care of that. Today Riggs came over and helped us yank off the bed so Corey could do some stuff to it.

The slick red that was sprayed is going to have to come back off. I used a new fisheye remover in the paint and it did something to it. It won't dry. I use fisheye remover in all my paint but this was another brand that Corey picked up and I've never used it. I think that is what did it. The cab is now dry but has bad spots all in it, plus it's starting to check. Also there are a few spot I missed doing body work and when that wind storm came trhough, part of a house roof hit the fender. I'm afraid to sand it down and go over it in case it comes through the new paint. So this spring or summer the cab will have to be stripped bare and more body work. The truck looks so bad with multi colors so we figured we would paint the bed red. Since the cab looked like crap we are just going to sand it down in a few spots and then wet sand it. Giving it that weathered or aged look. Can't hurt it any..

Last night I shot the red paint minus the fisheye remover on the bed. This morning the bed was dry enough to flip on it's end to cut the brace out 1 inch to let the bed sit all the way on the frame. The raised shackles was hitting it. I ran a razor over the body lines to start the aged look. I'm not feeling too good today so I left Corey out there to finish sanding on it. It was wierd to have a very glossy paint job and take sand paper to it. lol

Sami, thinking of what your going to do is easier than accually doing it. Because everything that you do to a car cost money ,and sometimes the things you think you can do you cant because sometimes you have to make sacrafices. But thats not my car its yours. ⭐ and yea that was preety funny also when he was trying to say card but what he said was car..d and we all laughed for about an hour after that one I think he was stoned from the paint fumes.

We got the bed back on it ,and painted it all one color so the cops might leave us alone ,and that picture was taken after I did some wet sanding on the bed so it didnt look so bad.
