64 Chevy C10
May as well put up a project post on my old truck. I got this truck in 1990, it was blue and had a .060 327 with a TH400. It would turn 7000rpm everytime you wanted. We restored it for my high school ride. Put a std. bore 327 with 11.1 popups, 64cc 462s and a TH350. It was a fun truck then, I joined the Army in 93 and left it with my dad. My brother was driving and it dropped a valve and destroyed the block. My dad put a 406 with forged pistons and some more 64cc 462s on it. It was faster than it had ever been. Still had all the original suspension and brakes and was around 3700lbs. We ran 8.0 index at George Rays Wildcat Dragstrip in Paragould, AR. I came hope from the Army in 97 and raced it for a couple years. Pulled the 406 to go in a Nova. Built a roller cam 305 and put it in the truck, installed disc brakes off a 70 GMC then I parked it. I have 5 kids and 3 of them have never been for a ride in it. I hauled this truck from Arkansas to TN a couple times planning on restoring it but it never happened. I did some swapping a couple years ago for a std. bore 402 bigblock and now have the shortblock build on the stand. In the meantime I picked up another 305 from my dads shop to get it moving again. It has a crane 272 cam and stealth intake. I just got it running a couple weeks ago. I still have to put the driveshaft back in, install the shifter and work on the brakes. It will start and thats motivation enough for me to get back to work on it.
I dont have any pictures of when I first got it but this is what it looked like after we painted it. This was around 1991.
After 15 years of sitting, neglect, abuse, what ever it is. I am ashamed to have let it sit this long.
After checking back in here and some PMs to RebStew. I got it in my head to get this back on the road before years end. Thanks for this site and this club. Lots of nice rides and I want to cruise and wrench with ya.

Re: 64 Chevy C10
I pushed it in the garage on friday to start on the top and to work on the fuel system. I pulled the stock tank (rust, from sitting, my fault) got a 16 gallon fuel cell now. I ran a new 3/8 aluminum fuel line last night.
I started working the top out and got it in primer.
What grill is on the wall? Trivia question..

Re: 64 Chevy C10
Got my new fuel line ran and hooked to the fuel cell yesterday. Also got most of the wiring cleaned up under the hood and assembled my driveshaft. Once I finish with painting the top I will start on the master cylinder upgrade. Shouldnt be long till I can start driving it again.
Whopped some 325/50 drag radials on some rims I had laying around and put em on the old truck.

Re: 64 Chevy C10
Next day looks like it laid down pretty good. It does have a little bit of Orange peel in the center but some 1000 grit and a buff job will fix that.
This is the first time in 3 years ive held a paint gun. Im not even a painter, but my dad has painted cares since 1972 and Ive watched him for years. I have only did painting on my own stuff, kinda like tinting windows. I dont mind doing my own. Getting ready to paint my Chrysler Conquest so I can sell or trade it. Well see how it turns out.

Re: 64 Chevy C10
Im sure it will be. Im now toying with the idea of painting the whole truck Gold with Burgundy scallops to accent the interior. Maybe some pink and black pinstripes with the scallops.

Re: 64 Chevy C10
Ordered some shifter hardware should have it by Monday. May try to bleed these brakes and install some 2lb residual valves on these front calipers.

Re: 64 Chevy C10
Had some time to work on the truck so I jumped on it. Adjusted the valves and installed my new power booster combo. I was letting it run and noticed that the oil pressure was dropping. It went from 50 psi to 5 psi but would jump up when I revved it. I checked the dipstick and it was overfull. Yeap full of gas. I had blew the power valve when I first put the motor in and had the distributor 180 out. So I put in a new power valve and changed the oil. Now its back up to 50 psi and running alot better.
The oil splash on the hood is from the oil squirting when I had the valve covers off. Its oiling very well.
The booster was alot easier to install than I expected. I did buy a kit for this truck though. I used the original holes for the bottom on the booster and only had to drill the two top holes. The rod arm and clevis had to be cut about 2 inches but it was very straight forward. I hooked right to the stock peddle with the included hardware. Now I have to install my proportional valve and run some brake lines. Very close to driving it again after 15 years of letting it set.
This sounds pretty good for a 305 with a lunati 272 cam. This motor was sitting on the floor at my dads body shop for a year. I got it to get my truck back running till I can finish my big block.
