Ford Sucks!
Ford, well Ford/Mazda, sucks! Janet's Escape's transmission went out in July 2010 with 76,047 miles. Now, Janet's Escape's transmission went out in May 2013 with 135,774 miles. Are these transmissions seriously only designed to last 70,000 miles?
Oh, and it's not her driving! Her GM product, Pontiac Grand Am, last 200,000 plus with all factory drive train.

Re: Ford Sucks!
big dogs 42, routine maintenance isn't a problem at my home. I own five vehicles, a tractor, atv, lawn mower, etc. and swear that I can more oil than the local Quick Lube.
Honestly, from my research, this is a common problem with the Ford CD4E transmissions that were produced at the Batavia, Ohio plant. The first transmission was rebuild due to the fact that it was warranty work. Hopefully the replacement will be a newer design.

Re: Ford Sucks!
I'm as big a Ford fan as anyone. BUT, I do work for two Ford dealerships and they will both admit (off the record) that there have been problems with those trannys.

I almost bought a focus till I did a little checking.
They have some trans problems as well. Is that the same trans?

Re: Ford Sucks!
Chevy Tahoe over 200,000 no trans trouble (just drove it over 2000 miles towing a traier). ford F350 SD with 7.3 turbo diesel and auto trans. Just had to put new front pump in the trans (147.000 miles) reason ford gave for pump failure " truck was used to pull a trailer." ford=fix or repair daily

There's your problem right there... Can't blame Ford for Ohio....
But in reality I have been lucky with Ford, Dodge, and I love my GM products.

Re: Ford Sucks!
Just when you think its safe to come out those buckeyes will get ya lol. I retired from ford sharonville in 2006 we didn't build it there and i was also a test driver for ford and worked in the valadation dept so ive see about anything come in there and people say it was fords fault ! Don't belive everything you hear . Im not saying this is the case here . If you had it fixed once call dealer developement at the sharonville plant the address is 2000 sharon rd batavia is now closed . i knew at one time if you had it fixed by a ford dealer you werent supose to ever have to pay for it again hope this is still the case .

Re: Ford Sucks!
Thing is that nothing made today seems to last. Car parts or anything else. I bought NEW washers, dryers, hot water heater, stove, fridge etc every time one would stop. Every year I had to buy at least one new thing. I got sick of it and started buying used OLDER stuff. The used older stuff last longer than a brand new one.
Just seems like nothing is made with quality anymore.

Re: Ford Sucks!
With cars, I think it's attitude. I never owned a Chevy that didn't leave me walking. On the other hand, I had a Buick Regal with the 301 Pontiac that was supposed to be such a POS. It had 140K on it when I got it. I put another 140K on it. Even pulled a 18' bassboat with it. I let my ex-wife have it when we divorced and she drove it 3 more years. While I had it, it blew a power steering hose. With over 200K on it she called me at work one day to tell me the car quit. Said she started it up and went to back out of the drive, it backfired and quit and would just crank over. Timing chain finally gave up, right? Saturday I decide to go see if it is salvagable. Pop the cap off to see how far out of time it was. The rotor button is in two pieces. So I go dig around in my tool box and come up with a used one, stick it in and the little Pontiac fired right up. That button was still in there when the ex sold the car. I let her have the car when we divorced because it was the most dependable car we had.
Our fleet at work has 27 Ford trucks and vans. We never talk about a mileage to retire them at. Over half have more than 200K on them. Our oldest was totaled in a wreck back in the winter. Had 336K on it and still on the road every day. We let the Chevy and Dodge vans go because they were maintanence money pits. That's not personal preferance; that's accounting. A mechanical contractor we work with thogh has had the opposite experiance. Their fleet is almost all Chevy. They say the Fords and Dodges need too much work. Go Figure. Either way I guess Dodge is on the hind tit.

Re: Ford Sucks!
New vehicles are nice if you get another before the warranty runs out,you could not pay me enough to take any built during the last 10 years. They have too much crap that can go wrong and will be driving older vehicles until I cant find parts for them, pre OBDII for me.

Re: Ford Sucks!
Ha Ha,all mine can go much faster but my Chevy has a hard time getting to that speed. The 351-C would cure my Chevy of being slow.
