Re: Possum's Project 1975 Laguna S3
yeah i cant believe how heavy this car is, just the bumper its 180 lbs, its gonna be a pain in the butt to replace if I can ever find one though ha.
Should be ordering my headers monday, getting flowtech and gonna run side pipes with American Thunder flowmasters, or 80seris.

Nice to see someone investing in a 'Colonnade' body...the Laguna will turn out well for sure! Any idea what color you want to paint it? Factory with stripes?

Re: Possum's Project 1975 Laguna S3
I havent found a new nose yet but my hunt is still on, i think ive called every place I can think of around me asking haha, the shifter i have is usable its a little rusty and hard to move at times and i have WD40 the hell out of it to haha, but I would like to switch it up inside a little.
Any shots on were I could get a new nose? I HIGHLY doubt Fl will have them and if we do its sitting in the woods in someones backyard.

Re: Possum's Project 1975 Laguna S3
I think I seen one at Busy bee auto parts up here in Dayton Ohio, looked like it had been sitting for a long time but the nose looked good. It was on top of another car or had one on top of it,not much in reproduction parts for those years.

cause we got a special spot/track no cars nothing out here and we put it on there to see how well they run.

Re: Possum's Project 1975 Laguna S3
Any non-smog V8 is going to do better than the motor in your car (if that is still the stock motor). You said you were wanting power and reliability. It's hard to not go with the built 350. Do some research and get the right block. Find out the limits of that block and what you can put into it. Then don't build it to the limits, stay under. This will let you have good power while helping to keep it as reliable as possible.
Not sure what your $$$ are like. Going with a big block build will cost you more than building a 350. If you're looking at turing it into a 383 stroker, I'd go that route and get the right rear gear setup. You might have a hard time finding aftermarket gears so you maybe looking at a rear axle swap. I'm not sure what rear end is in those cars. Match your drive train with the right rear gears and save yourself the weight that a big block is going to add to that already heavy car.
Just my two cents.
I have a 455 Olds motor that I still plan on building someday. Not sure what I'm going to stick it in at this point. I decided shortly after getting my '55 Olds that I was keeping the vintage 324V8.
Always love the sound of a big block!

Re: Possum's Project 1975 Laguna S3
haha I agree with you on that, but I have decided to go with the 454, just need to find a good motor first..but i will sell the 350 hope i can get at least 700 that should cover my new motor.

Re: Possum's Project 1975 Laguna S3
The muscle car shop next to where I work has a 75 El camino with a 454,its all original but doubt it has much more power then a 350.

Looks to be in pretty good shape. Might be cheaper to ship than running around trying to find and another.

Re: Possum's Project 1975 Laguna S3
yeah Im only doing online research to see if I find one, hopefully someone will have one soon, but mine is fine until I get the right one. but thank you guys for looking out, on another note I am getting my inside all redone, had to take the dash out to replace and so im just waiting to get another one. gonna take the stock gauges out and replace with aftermarket ones (Tach, speedo, water temp, oil, and maybe a clock haha) just gotta find out how I can make it work and still keep a clean look to it..
