Re: 1968 Ford Truck, Cledus
I beat around on the fuel line, carb and messed with a few things. I got it started but was running bad. I get it moving again and take off. I get to a 4 lane 4 way stop and the truck dies in the middle of the road with no place to go. Break down number 3. I get out and start screwing with stuff again. I knew what it was by now. I ran out of gas and sucked some rust from the gas tank into the carb. I get it running enough to roll away maybe 400 feet. It dies but now I'm rolling. I cut a car off to hit the Advance Auto Parts parking lot. I made it just in the drive and that it. I'm stuck. Number 4. I like to never got it to start. I dumped a bunch of gas in it. Enough to cause it to back fire. It blew the crap out of the carb and it started right up.
I pulled into a parking spot and let it run.It semed fine. I went in the store and bought some gas line, clamps and a electric fuel pump. I figured I'd shove it into the can of gas if I had any more trouble.

No plans set in stone yet other than a fuel filter or two! I'm just going to baby it around for a few weeks and check out the king pins and some other stuff.

Sounds like a lot of the old junkers we used to (and still do) drag home in the day. Now we push 'em, drag 'em, kick 'em up on a trailer if they don't run. If they run we put insurance on 'em and drive 'em home without tags if a rural drive- in NY the ticket and fine for no reggie is far less expensive and troublesome than the no insurance gig. And don't even think of sticking a plate on it from something else- that gets yer butt in a big sling here!
Our biggest problem is our local state police barracks became a training barracks for new recruits from the academy- so sometimes they write stuff they don't know, and are out to make a name for themselves with the commander.

I don't know about Cledus, more like uncle Jesse from the Dukes of Hazzard.

Good find! That will be a fun poke around rig for sure...and plenty of hop-up parts for the 250/300 engine when you decide to get yer speed on! Has just the right amount of patina too. Good story, good times and another good ride sees the streets again!

Re: 1968 Ford Truck, Cledus
Thanks guys.
I'm on the lookout for a nice front bumper and stock (NON STEP) bumper for the rear. If anyone runs across one in a yard. Chrome would be nice but I'm not picky.

Re: 1968 Ford Truck, Cledus
I forget at times that the forum is seen world wide. For the ones not local to me this decal is a hard rock radio station. WEBN 102.7FM was at one time a killer station. Everyone listen to it and everyone had a sticker on their car. Their mascot was the 'EBN Frog. Every year they came out with a new decal and we had to have them. Even the huge fireworks that they put on the Cincy Riverfront is done by WEBN. I guess I just don't get much of the modern day rock so I don't listen anymore. Either way the decals have to go. Just wanted to show you how some around here were nuts over the station.

Re: 1968 Ford Truck, Cledus
That's a good, solid starting point! Not my style (I'm a '67-'72 GMC short-bed kinda guy) but this is one cool truck.

The Ford is my second choice. If I could have what I really want I'd be driving a 59 Apache.

I never was much on the double headlights but it works on the Apache. That and I love that spear on the bedside. I guess it's just different than the norm is why I like it.
You wanting a 55 you have seen already or still looking?
