Garage art what do ya have?

When I bought this house there was one sign hanging on the garage door. It was an old Coke sign and someone had painted it brown when they painted the door. When I painted the garage white I just painted over the brown part and kept the Coke showing. It didn't really matter. It was on the inside of the door and i either had my tool box or fridge over it so no one could bust through the door. I have been cleaning so I found the sign again.

I grabbed some reducer and rubbed it on the sign. The white came off easy. The brown was a pain. A little rubbing and I seen something else below the Coke. I kept at it until I could see what it said.

"Delicious with food" I have heard a lot of Coke slogans but never that one.

I figured it must have went into a corner store or burger joint. There was green on the bottom. Amy and myself thought that may have been like a spot to write stuff they had on sale in chalk. I kept rubbing and words were coming through the bottom. I kept at it for hours trying to see what it said without messing up the sign.

"BE SURE" ??

Amy and I were like two kids doing a puzzle, trying to figure it out.
Maybe it says be sure to come again???

Next word "to" . Next word ends with CK
So it's not " BE SURE TO COME AGAIN"

BE SURE TO LOCK ?"YOUR CAR DOORS"?

I let it soak in a mixture of reducers and other things I had. It worked the paint up enough to read the words.
I was freaking to see what someone last wrote at the store this sign was in.

The writing was not for the store it was for the garage. The door the sign was on sits between two garage doors. Both doors at one time were double doors. You can still see where the hinges were.
So I guess someone kept coming in and not locking the doors.

After looking at the sign for hours it become clear that the green was not part of the sign either. The green is hard to get off. I worked at it a while. At least enough to be able to see what was under it. Just red lines. A place to write what was on sale.

I stopped on the sign for now but later I will try to get the rest of the paint off that people put on it over the years. It's not a perfect sign but still nice enough to fix up.

Anyone else have any old signs hanging up? Let's see 'em.

Very cool. I may have to do mine after seeing yours. I'd have to paint mine to look like a DR Pepper can though.

my David Regen #6 Ford WHOLE rear, I bought from, and signed by Jack....Gas pump, Eco Air meter and Crosley Fridge....round it all out....

Went and was looking at some old post and ran across this one.
