ECTA Ohio Mile 2012
Just saw this in the newest (Jan 2012) issue of Hot Rod.
The East Coast Timing Association has relocated their standing mile land speed record meets from Maxton, North Carolina to the Wilmington Airpark in Wilmington Ohio. That's where the old DHL facility was. They have a 9000 foot long runway that is supposed to be the smoothest regularly operated standing mile venue in the country. Should be some amazing top speed runs there.
Always wanted to go when they were in North Carolina. Now that they are this close I have no excuse!
Here's a link to the ECTA website for more info....
http://www.ecta-lsr.com/
Here are the finalized 2012 dates:
April 28-29 Hot Rod Magazine Street Car Shootout
June 2-3
July 7-8
Sept 29-30 Throttle Nation Street Bike Shootout

Re: Time runs at the old airport??
Is the Blue Eyed Devil, Porkchop and the boys from Walker's going to run anything? I know they've been out to the Salt Flats because I've seen the pictures of them out there. Don't know if they've every ran anything. That 666 Coupe has the look of a speed racer. Makes it a little more special if ya know some of the players.

Track set-up will be Friday, April 27. We have lots of track and race positions to populate, so if you are interested in volunteering, please contact Dan Stokes, Volunteer Coordinator.

This weekebd is 4/20 thru 4/22. You'll be able to find a good spot then because you'll be about a week early. You might not want to go that early, it might get a bit boring waiting for the first car to run.
You might want to go 4/28/2012.
You rival Jeff with try to get dates mixed up!
I thought the Blue Eyed Devil mentioned it somewhere a while ago. Are you going to be there Blue Eyes?

Re: Time runs at the old airport??
Rushing through the PM's last night I read yours. It got me thinking about it. After I started looking for the thread I couldn't find it. I thought Falcon Jerry posted something, maybe not. I sure could use a hand sometimes on stuff like this for getting the dates, address and who interested in coming. It would make it a lot easier on me. Amy works all the time and doesn't have the time to do it anymore. Beside I'd rather be early than late

Re: Time runs at the old airport??
I got the idea from Bill that it might be a good idea the get there a little early. I plan on taking a cooler. I figure they'll sell food and doubt if you can take a small grille to cook burgers on. I don't kow if they'll let you put up an E-Z or not. If you go, you would probably need one for your delicate skin. Might be fun to meet up for breakfast somewhere be for going.....just a thought.
I used to try to post events and dates but seemed Jeff and I were the only ones to attend those so I sorta gave up. It was easier to just keep him in line since no one esle seemed to go.
Lets do a roll call..............

Here's my original post....

We talked at the last meeting about leaving out from the site of the Milford Cruise sometime in the morning on Saturday the 28th. If people want to do this we need to come up with a time. Keep in mind, as far as I understand, there will be no designated "Hot Rod" parking. We will just be parked in a field with all spectators rides. Also the race field is filled at this time. Nobody is going to be able to drive in and run down the track unless they are already pre-registered. Who's interested?
