A little get away.

We took off for a few days. We are just north of Doug's home town in TN. I'll post some pics when I get back home. It's funny, I have been all over the U.S. but got cought up in the drive most places to get from point A to point B. Stopping in these small towns to see what they are like is refreshing. Lebennon TN is a very cool little old town. Today we are going to hit all the mom and pop shops before we take off towards AL.

I have to get off this slow running computer the hotel has. It's heated pool time!

Sounds like a good time! Keep heading south, and you won't need a heated pool it's been in the 90s here.

Well, the Stewarts left a little while ago. Poured down rain here all afternoon. If they broought it with them, it wasn't before we needed it.
Steve, I really enjoyed your visit and wish it didn't have to be so short. Maybe you can make a return trip and we can get Sami on a horse. In the meantime I'll be working toward making the trip North.

Lebanon is a cool town, My uncle lives in Heartsville TN not far from there.

We just got in. We were going to stay another night on the road but man I'm getting too old for all those miles. lol
Pics coming up after I get some rest. Nothing crazy other than maybe me sitting in a real electric chair.

From time to time we take off on these little trips to no where. No fixed plans just jump in and go. We now stop often and for stupid stuff. Even if it's to just look at a creek.

Before the first 20 miles plans were made by the kids on who was sleeping on who in the car.


We didn't make it 75 miles before we hit a bad rain storm. Wipers on hi and the E flashers going just for the hope that someone wouldn't run into the back of us. We slowed way down and some cars were pulling over in the E lane but I was hoping to outrun it. We was in it heavy for a long time. We made our way to sunshine and stopped in LaGrange, Ky to get a bit to eat. KFC is good! While we were sitting there the clouds laid over us and here it came. It caught us quick! We waited out the storm inside and when it let up we was gone again. By the time we hit TN the sun was out again!

We drove a whopping 50 feet to the welcome center. You see where we are going with this. Plenty of stopping.

We made it back outside and found us some new friends.

Nashville at rush hour is not fun. I was going to hit the city and look around but traffic got nuts.

One of my pet peaves is sitting still on a highway.

Fender bender.

We cut off I-65 and hit I-40 over to Lebanon, TN. Cool little southern town with plenty of mom and pop shops to look in. It looked like a great place to get some rest and do some swimming in the indoor pool too!

We had fun that night. The kids where in the pool and I was in my clothes next to the pool. The kids grabbed my legs and I was laughing at them knowing that they didn't have enough to drag me in. Before I knew what happened I was in the water, clothes and all. Later we got dressed and grabbed a very late night dinner and crashed out.

Am I the only early morning person on this trip?

We took off to check out what was around town. We ran across this Olds. I have had 10 to 12 of these big body Olds. My favorite was a 73. A couple were 442's I wish I still had.

Down here if you need a garage you just buy it from the store and bring it home with ya.

As most of you know I'm a history buff. Old building and historical sites just make me want to soak as much history about the place as I can take in. Lebanon, TN and Watertown, TN are two of those places and signs the towns have put up helps to preserve it. It's refreshing to see these small towns still running as they once did. So many have fallen into such disrepair that there is no way they will ever come back.
