Re: 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback build
When I bought my Triumph, it came with two dealer service oil changes. Rode it home after the first one and parked it in the shop. Went out to jump on it the next day and there's a puddle under it. HAULED it back to them to fix. The service manager tried to charge me. Said I hit something with the filter. I raised enough hell the mechanic came up front and admitted he left the old o-ring stuck to the block. They still owe me another oil change.
Now back to the real topic.
You going to try to get it fired up this weekend?

Re: 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback build
You know as many times as I put motors together, I must have screwed something up, oil pump shaft has an issue, had to pull the motor BACK out...(took Tommy boy and I 30 minutes, and I have to drop the pan, fix it, install the new lower motor crossmember, and then, re-install the motor....but, I have most of the other stuff done.....
Anybody need a stock 84-85 GT intake, I am using the Edelbrock I had on the shelf.....

Re: 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback build
I have never seen a GT intake with a pair of extrapolator tubes hooked to the bottom of it! (lol) Did you find these at a flea maket, or did you get them off the internet? Those look lke the long tube design, run clear down and draw velocity off the exhaust gasses through osmosis..... or something like that. Dig that awesome fridge in the background, too!

Re: 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback build
Yep, my dumb (BEEP) some how popped the drive shaft OUT of the pump! took 2 minutes to fix, only took 10 minutes to install it back, also cleaned and painted a Lower Front Motor Crossmember in, had to pull the whole frame together by an 1" or two!!! somebody took it off, and like a Falcon, the lower A-Arms will spread if they are not held, so I am sure the driving will be much better, I also got an upper Monte-Carlo bar I am installing.....
shaft not in pump
motor back in and hooking stuff up....

Re: 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback build
Isn't it amazing, as these cars make the rounds how things get removed (like motor crossmembers) and chucked out, and forgotten. It's only a stressed component of the chassis, you wouldn't think it would be that important.

Yeah, that air cleaner is just a 'must' for any mid 1960s FoMoCo or Mercury musclecar IMHO.

Re: 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback build
Well, turns out it was my coil went bad....Change to new coil, changed the 1407 Carb, to a 1406 carb with electric choke, installed new plugs, and it puuurs like a kitten, I am going to put her down on the ground tomorrow, and clean up/out the insides, and start to put that all back together, I hope to take it to the storage barn this week, to make room to work on the 69 GT, and mama's 59 Apache and the banger if not sold off or traded real SOON!!!
Re: 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback build

Re: 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback build
she fires right up, going to clean up some wiring, tidy it up, then start cleaning up the insides....then off to storage till spring, when I can do some body work...but I did sealer prime the new/used hood I bought a year ago, my other had over 1/2 bondo in the rear drivers side edge, they just need to adjust the hood hinge! lots of adjustments WAY out of wack...But over the next few months, I will adjust on it, and get her looking pretty good....

Re: 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback build
Thanks, the 66, and 69 are my fav's.....she will need a full resto someday, just not today....but running and driving, that's the important part....
Re: 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback build
Don't be bashful, for '69 parts that is.... I got lots of stupid a-- stuff layin' around. Just ask, and if I got it, it will be reasonable. Hmmmmm - never had a chin spoiler on any of mine..... oh yeah, I live in NY where the roads have holes the size of Freightliners, and parking bumpers double as loading docks. No need for one here! What once was the Empire State has become the enabling state. We pour millions into entitlements, and let the bridges fall in. Been tryin' to get the Mrs to move to PA, but since that's where she is from, I can't get her to go back. Sorry for the rant......
