We stopped in as many little shops and stores as we could. We talked to almost everyone we ran into. It was like being back in time. We stopped in Sapps Antiques and talk to the owner that was close to 70 years old. I told him we was thinking about moving down here and ask what he thought about the town. He ask us to come on back and had a couple chair for us to sit in while we talked for 1/2 hour or more. Answered any qustion and was cool as could be. Not one person we talked to had anything bad to say about the town or the people in it.

A few days in and this was by far the best time I have had in a long time. It was short lived when we checked on the kids and I got the measage that my Grandma had passed away. Mom and my sister had been trying to reach me without any luck. This is my dad's mom. When dad had his stroke last month she was in the hospital too. They said there was nothing they could do and sent her home. She made it another two weeks and the pain was just too much. She refused to eat and made it 2 weeks without food before she passed. My dad is in his 70's and not doing well. Loosing a mother even if she's in her mid 90's is rough for anyone.

The funeral was in two days so Sunday we would have to cut our vacation short to make it down home. I tried to make the best of it but I was woried sick about dad. His dad passed away when he was young so Grandma was the sole parent for many years. They were very close.

We continued to search through the town and see all the cool stuff. All the little side streets and everything we could get to brought me closer to wanting to move there.

Trying to make the rest of the trip somewhat enjoyable we went out to eat. They have a Chinese place so we hit it. Again the food was almost perfect. Nice cuts of meat for their dishes and the food was really good! We started getting worried because we couldn't get a hold of the kids. When we do we find out that Corey wanted to go with the band to Louisville, Ky so he took Sami and Aryan with him. All 3 of my kids that are suppose to be at home are hanging out a a school in Louisville. Twisted Evil

With all the stress I already have I almost ripped the place apart. I was pissed! I couldn't get myself calmed down and had to go to the restroom so I didn't make a scene. After I get my head on straight I walk back out and tell Amy to get a address so we can go and pick the two little ones up. They are getting ready to leave to go back to Newport soon so we talked about it and let them go back by themselves. I still have not talked to Corey about this. I'm worried I'll blow up. I'll deal with it in a few days when I calm down.

I recognize that place. Great town! Beautiful Lake! Big car show there every Fourth of July, or at least there used to be years ago. I have stood on that dam many times. Eyeballed those 57 Chevy's too... Can't believe they are still there. At least most of them. (O:
My parents had a mobile home and a pole barn on a half acre there. You could see the dam's spillway from their backyard. This was in the late 70's into the late 80's. The town was dry so everybody cruised from one end of the town to the other and then back again on the weekends. If you weren't cruising you were parked on the side of the road hooting at the cars passing by. Lot's of 4x4's and Vans at that time. Haven't been back there in a long time.... makes me want to go.....

If all goes well I'll have you a couch to sleep on. We are going to let Corey finish his last year of high school before we jump into moving. At the most it will be 2 years depending on us selling this house.

Back at the lake you can see what happens to the wild life that doesn't make it. Picked clean! I chucked a rock at them to figure out what it was. 6 point buck looks like.

Next time we see each other I will bore you with a few stories about the town and the lake. I was sad to see Mom and Dad sell...... My Aunt and Uncle still have a Houseboat docked there.....

I could have posted a ton more of car pics. I got tired of snapping pics. I had a blast. I will go back and if something crazy doesn't come up I'll be moving there within a couple years if not sooner. I didn't want to leave but had to get to Clay County. Parting shot from this cool little town.

If you look over the driver's side of your car at about 10 o'clock that is where Mom and Dad's place was. It's about 1/2 mile or less as the crow flies from the spillway on a little street called Morgan's Trail that runs off Route 55. Lot's of Civil War history right there as John Hunt Morgan fought a couple of battles in the area. The trees weren't nearly that tall back then. You can probably only see the spillway from their place in the winter now!

Yep! Columbia is south of the spillway. You passed into the Central Time Zone about halfway there. I remember that courthouse. I think it's so cool how you have to drive around it... Lot's of towns in KY are that way.

We made it to Manchester, Ky for the funeral. I figured at least I'd be there for dad. My sister lives almost in AL. and my brothers has stuff going on. I was happy to make it there and was blown away to see my sister and brother there. Even Aaron walked in with his family. I'm sure it meant a lot to dad that we was there for her and him. It not every day you see a southern preacher start speaking in tongues and jumping all over the place at a funeral. I'm sure she would have liked it. My dad did pretty good. At times he had me on one side of him and my brother on the other to help him walk. Since the stroke he doesn't get around to good. We did what we had to do then took off on our own again.

You should have seen it on the GPS before I got there. I told Amy to check out the arrow on the GPS, it was a 3/4 circle. I had never seen anything like it. I thought it was a crazy road. After I got to the court house I seen why it was like that. Pretty cool town too.

Every time we would go down home I'd take the kids across this old swinging bridge. I have pictures of them every time they walked over it. I guess there will be no more pics on the bridge.
