Re: 1955 Oldsmobile 88
I got the wheel fixed!. Kicked my tail. Good thing I got the stuff from Jeff and didn't just order the bearings. The spindle was shot. The pieces I got from Jeff fought me all morning. I won. Took her out tonight and she drove good.
While working on the front wheels I noticed that the bar that has the tie rod end on it was bent on the driver side. I got to looking at it and it looks like the main drag bar is bent pretty good too. Glad Jeff gave me that drag bar that was in his shed too. I'll be looking into that sometime next week.
Feels good to have it back on the road.

Those suspension parts are much easier to take apart when attached to the car, glad they are being used as they sat in the shed for about 15 years.

Re: 1955 Oldsmobile 88
Well... while working on the front wheel bearings I decided I wanted to try and clean up the wheels. I realized the paint on the wheels wasn't very good. It reminded me a lot of the reverse lights. So I decided to take a chance. I figured it couldn't hurt.
So here is a before picture...
Here is what they look like with the red paint removed...
I think with how they turned out I'm not worried about getting different wheels any time soon. I wasn't really looking because I have other things that I want/need to spend my money on to fix on the car, but I didn't like how they looked. Now I'm pretty happy with how they look on the car. I will probably just look at getting nice lug nuts to clean up the wheels.
I need to find something to go in the center of the wheels.

About 15 years ago you could still buy new centers from the dealer and if you want to get better lug nuts change the studs on the drivers side to right hand threads.

That is cool!!
At this point I'm just ready to have a solid trunk and solid floors. I'd love to get it sanded down and the trouble areas fixed and in primer.
I did get the radiator fixed. I went to the place in covington and was very satisfied with their work.
I need to stop by the glass place in Newport and get a cost on the front door glass.

Seems like she's moving right along.
You could go this route and scare the kids in town.

I've been off the site for a little bit. Life has had me busy. I got married on Oct 7th. Everything went great. I had my car up at the church for us to leave in. Everyone loved the car. We got some pictures with the car and wanted to share them here.

I'd have to say it was a great wedding. It was nice your dad was involved. He really has a way with words. Some of the stuff he said really moved me. Congrats guys.

Congratulations Guys. Old cars are always popular at weddings(at least I "think" it's old) but it's really special if it's your own. Really Cool!

Any one in or close to Newport that has a sand blaster? I want to clean up my 4bbl intake for the 88 so I can get it ready to install.
