Butch came down tonight and we started messing with the hood. It was a straight forward swap other than the Nova had a peaked center and the Chevelle was smooth. He sliced the peak right down the center and laid it closed before welding on the scoop on.

We cut a small slice to see how good the peak would fold in. Hammer and dolly time! Most of the hood could be reached with a dolly on the bottom.

We only cut a few inches at a time so we could use the rest of the peak for strength in the metal as we folded the cut peak part.

We manage to get the peak down where the scoop covers. Now for the hard part. Taking the peak out of the front roundness of the hood.

A little heat here and there and the peak disappeared with a little hammer work. Still may need a little work but the biggest part of the peak is gone.

If you are going to run a cowl you may as well make it work for getting air to the carb.

I've never seen a man take a pair of tin cutters to 16 gauge steel and cut it. Butch is one strong dude.

That's about as far as we got tonight. Needs a little grinding here and there. Some All Metal and then some plastic filler and you will never know it was a wrecked Chevelle hood scoop.

thanks REBSTEW benjinan it turned out just like i visioned it sux im going blind tho lol i may do body work and paint the car over the winter the car has came along way in a short time its awsum not too tall its a scrounger cowl hood

I guess that picture done him in. Amy made him go in. When she fell asleep he snuck back out to hang out with us. He had a welding helmet on at times watching us weld the scoop on. Hopefully there will be a time that he passes me up and starts showing me the right way to do things. Very Happy

Wow what a difference a little Scrounger work session can do. Looks good Butch! I told Aryan i'm going to put an alarm on the door to keep him in. I have to agree he is already a hot rod nut!!
