Re: Scroungers Gasser Project
I'm plugging away on the dash...some stuff is acting stuck and I don't want to damage anything.

I should have the bed on the big truck soon so I can run over and get the metal for the frame.

Re: Scroungers Gasser Project
Wish I would have seen this thread earlier. I have a 41 Pontiac 4-door parts car that is a rust free south west car. i would have donated it (even though i am so far it would be hard to transport). Anyways, what you guys finally do with the hood ornament? If your not going to use it I'll take it off your hands. Wish I was a little closer, i would be game to help out.

Re: Scroungers Gasser Project
Try Towel City Racing for cheater slicks, cheaper price than most places, but still a bit pricey. I was gonna run them on my Dart gasser, but sold it before I ponied up the cash... Just a thought....
Re: Scroungers Gasser Project
Or you guys might have some good luck finding some used ET STREETS and with a little tire buffing to remove the lettering and they have the square build to them that resembles a Casler, or a Hurst in a ways if you squint your eyes right...lol they are lighter and grip better than cheaters, atleast that's my personal experience, but it all depends if it's function or fashion your after.. Just an outsider looking in.... Sounds like a fun project either way......

Re: Scroungers Gasser Project
Thanks for the info on the cheater slicks. Towel city has some decent prices. looking at them and Kelly's hot rod parts. Want the nostalgic look on my 30.

Re: Scroungers Gasser Project
The guy from Kelly's is ok to deal with. He and I where trying to work a deal on some trades his model and and my dart gasser. Cheater slicks have a great look but some are not as good as others. From my experience is that the towel city ones last well, are pretty true, and a bit lighter than the others. ET streets are the best bang for the buck, but just don't have the look. If you google Brandon's anglia.. "Pretty Penny" he ran ets on it and it looked and hooked!
Re: Scroungers Gasser Project
Thanks, I wont be racing my rod, I mainly want the look. Probably won't be putting to many miles on it either. Thanks for the info. I'll be looking to set some soon. Still working on painting everything. You know you have to build it twice. Once to see if everything fits and work. Then take apart for paint, plating, and powdercoating. And then hope everything go back together OK.

Mock up is fun until you figure out you have to do it all over again.frmula505 wrote:. You know you have to build it twice. Once to see if everything fits and work. Then take apart for paint, plating, and powdercoating. And then hope everything go back together OK.

Re: Scroungers Gasser Project
I would love to get done with mock up on mine problem is i keep adding to it ive made up my mind this one is gona be the way i want no crazy motor. A nice ride that i can cruse and enjoy for a change without worrying about somebody hitting it or me wanting to race it built them both ways before and really didn" t get to enjoy them they were either to wild or too pretty.Does this mean im getting mature or old ?Hope not cause i still think i got a lot of kid in me yet.

Re: Scroungers Gasser Project
Troy Rose stopped up the other day to hang out. He brought us a set of toggle switches with the flip covers for the gasser. When we were at the track last time Pep Boy handed me a set of new headlights that will work in it also. We are getting a good selection of parts. Biggest thing we need now is a way to grab the 2x4 steel for the frame. If I can't get the bed on the yellow truck soon we are going to have to sucker Randy into getting it for us.
