A good way to make me mad! Empty A good way to make me mad!

Post by Reb Stew June 11th 2013, 11:20 pm

Life is short and I try not to let rude or ignorant people get the best of me but man sometimes I want to slap the crap out of people.

As most know I have been working on a new house for mom and dad. Both up in age., they can't do much. I bought a couple garbage cans for their new house. I have been wondering what is wrong with the garbage man that gets the cans. He tosses them all over the yard or he throws them on the hill and they roll out in the street. Last week he tossed them on the hill and one of them rolled into the 1/4 of my Firebird.

Not happy..... Mad

I thought about stopping him this week and asking him to just flip them over where I sit them for pickup. I thought about it and just figured I'd let it ride. Why make a fuss???

This week I set 3 cans out. One had saw dust in it from some wood I was cutting, nothing crazy. I hear the garbage truck pull up so I walk to the window. They guy picks the can up and slams it into the back of the truck. I'm not sure if it slipped out of his hand or what but he didn't make it in the truck. He gets mad and throws the can in then grabs another. He then starts shaking his head and grabs the first can and pitches it on the street dumping garbage & saw dust all over. He then grabs the other out of the truck and throws both cans up in the yard.

I'm at the window wondering what is wrong with this nut. He's starting to make me mad. He then grabs the 3rd can walks it over and punt kicks the can into the back of the truck. I start to walk out but what got me next was shocking. He pulled the handle on the garbage truck and crushed my garbage can in with the garbage. I couldn't believe it! I started out the door but by the time I got the door opened he was going down the road.

Now the redneck in me wanted to get in the car and find him so I could beat the snot out of the guy. Bad thing is my Dad was watching out the other window and was just as shocked as me. I stopped in to the Wilder City Building and I have a meeting with the City Manager tomorrow. I'll try it the right way first. If it doesn't work I guess I will be waiting at the curb for next weeks pickup.

Sounds like his IQ is about the same as his foot size.

Atleast you almost get hit head on by a state/county worker. I was going down a back road today on one of the tractors with a 9ft cut haybine. Dad was in front of me with his blinker on when a state 1 ton truck came down the hill flying, around a blind curve and straight towards me. I was stopped in the road and he had to take the ditch.

It sounds like he needs a high five…in the face…with a shovel.

On the other hand, I have had more than my fair share of disagreements with Rumpke regarding their route employees.

Hope they take care of that guy. People like that think they can get away with anything because they don't think anyone is watching. Good for you for taking the extra step to get it settled.

Looks like the fit hit the shan!

I had my talk with the City Manager. He wasn't happy at all. Real nice guy by the way. He called the big boss man from CSI (garbage company) after we talked.

Boss man just called me a few minutes ago and ask what all happened. After I told him everything he explained that is not what he wants from his company and he's not going to have it there. He's having a supervisors meeting tomorrow and he's bringing this up. He told me his blood was boiling he was so mad about it. He said I won't have to ever worry about anything happening like that ever again. He went on to say to keep his number and if there is ever anything wrong like this again that next time it will be the supervisor that gets fired. He's sending the area supervisor down to the house right after the meeting to bring me a new garbage can.

It sounds like the guys that run that route may have lost their jobs or maybe going on to a different route. My last comments to him before he told me anything was that jobs are hard to come by and if these workers could not do their jobs in a professional way that I'm sure there are many out there who would like a chance to do it.

I hate the idea of anyone loosing their job but I was raised in a home were you took pride in your work and you worked hard to do it. It doesn't matter if you are a garbage man, work a Taco Bell or NASA. Do the best you can and treat people the way you would want them to treat you.

I always find my trash cans just strewn around,my city has a contract with another city to haul the trash and might have to attend a city meeting about it.

Out in the brush where we live, here in NY, there are no "sanitation routes", or companies willing to come out and provide service.  As a result, we truck our stuff on over to the county landfill 10 miles away.  A bit inconvenient, to say the least, but for the permit to haul in @ $150 annual, I guess you have to make up the difference somewhere.

I would like to get out of having trash service and just haul it in myself and save a little money, when where I live became a city the city promised free trash service to get people to vote to go to a city but the free trash service only lasted a year until they complained about not enough money and took over who takes the trash and put the bill on the property tax. When it was a township each house had to get their own trash service which I wish it still was so I could just haul it in myself but not now.

Who would have thunk 30 years ago we would be carrying on about trash....  Hard to believe it has become so expensive to toss away our unwanted, unusable stuff that isn't scrap.  A good friend benefited quite well from this circumstance by selling the family farm to the landfill company, working as an environmental engineer for the landfill company, and had the foresight in the sale contract to write in the clause that he would receive X number of dollars for every ton dumped up there.  Needless to say he is now a millionaire and no longer has to work, had a house built in the Dominican Republic to retire into, and started a chocolate processing company in the Dominican.  I must say, that is a far too complex life for myself to live, and am glad I don't have to be a part of it. I'm far too simple to live like that.  Now I get paid to monitor his home boiler system each winter for a monthly salary.  Works for me.
