Hey John. What's this thing worth?

Went to see my grandson today. My ex daughter-in-law asked me what it's worth. It belonged to her older son by her first marriage and was driving it when she and my son were dating. Then he bought a new car and just left it in her shop. it hasn't been started since '03 when the battery went down. She says the engine has been rebuilt and the heater didn't work.

She didn't go get the keys so I don't know about the interior. The body is about perfect though.

I want it....what year? is it a 911 or a 912....Duhhhh plates say 911....somewhere 3K to 10K depends on condition, service records ect...

Looks like a mid-1980s base 911 Targa that has had the 'whale tail' added to it.

Falcon is pretty spot-on in the basic worth assessment. I good look at the interior and the underneath would need to be in order. Plus find out exactly what the story is on the drivetrain.

She said she thinks '74. Just looking on the net the tail lights look more like '83or '84. If you guys are seriously interested, I'm going back that way today and can find out more.

OK, She answered my e-mail. She bought the car in '99. She doesn't have any service records. The engine was rebuilt either right before or right after it was bought. She's pretty sure the title is in her name but needs to look and see. I have more pics if any one wants to see them. I didn't get under it but got some pics of the bottom of it and it doesn't look rusty. It looks to me like if you wanted a cheap Porsche to restore this would be it. if you want to try and buy it I will help any way I can.

I figured John has first dibs since he called it. I have to much going on to mess with it anyways. Let me know how it goes John. If you don't want it maybe I'll check into it more.
