Chris and I went over today. Got some pics I'll post later. It was pretty cool seeing the shoebox being chopped. If you go to shoeboxchop.com you can follow the progress.

The show was fun this year, the chop was something new. I think it would have went way better ifbtheynwould have just let mike do it! Gene is a master, but seems he was a little to interested in selling do dads, then worrying about the quality of work he was putting his name on. If it wasn't for mike busting his (BEEP) all night long that thing sti
L wouldn't have a top on it. We had fun letting the kids draw all over the 31 this year, ( look for it in Detroit) Whitney and Hilton nailed it with the dragsters this year. It was a thrash this year to get the John Pusche dragster there, but some how Whitney did it again. He is a machine. It's a awesome experience just to help out where I can in his shop. He is a true craftsman! I hope you guys had fun, I am already planning next years project. Maybe I can finish my 31 before then....lol

I heard you was sitting comfy over there Ryan. I didn't get to go. Everyone said it was worth going this year. Figures. You going to the Autorama? It was good last year.

I was asked to bring the 31 up to Detroit. But it's also the same weekend as my daughters big volleyball tournament, which is the qualifier for Nationals they are only young once!

I didn't get to go this year, but followed along on Facebook and the website. Seemed to me that while Gene was being fawned over by the masses you always seen Mike in the background making things happen. I have much respect for Gene, but Mike should get a big atta-boy. Make that a HUGE ATTA-BOY.

I say that one day, the work done by Mike on Tim Jones' shoebox will be as historically noted as Gene's involvement.

As a side note. Tim is a Olive Hill native and the nephew of one of the CCC founding members. Plus his dad was a member when I joined in 87.

Mike and John and Darlene ( i think that was her name) really did most of the work. Don't get me wrong Gene is a master, but I think his ego got in the way of knocking the job out, but thats just one fat guys opinion, who walked by occasionally to see what all the noise was about. Lets face it he was there to shake babies and kiss hands and sell Gene swag. and draw people in to see GENE CHOP A CAR. Dont get me wrong I wish I had the talent that either him of Mike have, I don't. But I think it would have went smoother if they would have worked together, instead of its my way or the highway attitude... Outsider looking in, as always...lol
