Probably think that Olds has a moonshine tank in the trunk.

Re: 1955 Oldsmobile 88
Project Solid Floors Is Under Way...
When I got the car I knew the floors needed work. I wanted to put some miles on it and enjoy it, so I never got around to working on them last year. The guy I got the car from did a hack job putting in the driver side floor pan. He cut the floor away and just used a couple sheet metal screws to hold it in place. Never even painted the bottom side to help protect them.
I got the seats and carpet out tonight. Vacuumed up all the loose rust. Cleaned a few spots off and began cutting out the rot on the passenger side. I have both front pans. The PO didn't even attempt the passenger side. I took the driver side out and put under lock and key. I don't have a garage behind my house and with how the scrappers are around here, I didn't want to leave the floor pan just screwed in in plain sight. They wouldn't think twice about ripping it out and scrapping it.
A few pics of the start...

Re: 1955 Oldsmobile 88
It works. Right now so much heat comes through the floor you can't use it when it's hot out. It just moves the hot air around. And it's just a cheapie plastic one.

Re: 1955 Oldsmobile 88
Yep. I got a lot done. Still have some more work to do. Got rained out today. Feel free to make fun of my welding job. I've only welded a few little things here and there, so this has been a learning experience. It may not be pretty, but I feel good about being able to do it my self.
Hole fixed...
Passenger side almost done. Just have a couple small patches to make to finish it up.
Got started on the driver side. It's in place. Need to clean what I've welded up and do some more welding. Have that one section to make still.

Re: 1955 Oldsmobile 88
I plan on going and getting some of KOI's version of Por-15. I've used it before and was pretty impressed with it. I am going to coat the whole floor with that stuff. Then I plan on going and picking up some of the poor man's dynamat. Seats back in Thursday/Friday ready for the run!

Re: 1955 Oldsmobile 88
No one going to make fun. We do what we can do and that's all we can do but the more we do it the better we get. I'm not too good at anything but I learned what little I know from messing up. I have no formal training in anything. All hands on.
It's looks good anyway! If you need to lay some bead rolls in any flat sheet stop up. Bead roller is set up and ready.

Re: 1955 Oldsmobile 88
Cool. Thanks! I think I'll be ok. I only have that one patch left and it has supports under neath that I will tack the patch panel to. The couple other things that are left are pretty small.
Next thing will be the inside rocker panels. They are pretty much completely gone.

That is much better than waiting on someone else to do the job.
Then it not being what you wanted.
It should feel good! Most people would not even attempt to do what you are doing.
It looks great! Keep on keeping on!

Re: 1955 Oldsmobile 88
Pulled off the intake this afternoon. I had gotten a 4bbl intake to put on my motor. In the process I am going to elimante the road draft tube.
I knew only a couple year intakes would work on this motor. I thought I had one that would work but the test fit proved otherwise.
So...
I'm looking for a stock 4bbl intake for an Olds 324 from either 1954 or 55.
