New motor for the 55 Empty New motor for the 55

The 351-W I had built was pieced togather with mismatched parts and never ran like I wanted to I found another motor cheaper then what I will cost to repair the one I have, its a 70 shortblock with 69 4 bbl heads that have hardened seats and has about 20,000 on a rebuild plus has a edelbrock performer intake and other goodies that I cant remember. Its still in a car that I can hear run and drive so this weekend I will be looking at it and if its what it says in the add I will buy it and forget about putting a Y block back in the 55. After I get it raised back up a couple inches a hotter motor might be installed.

It will need to be rebuilt since it says it has blow by and this rebuilt 351 is the same price and alot closer so it looks like I will stay late model unless a rebuilt Y block shows up here in this state or just across a boarder.

Found a 292 Y block for 100 dollars so thats going to be the new motor,it will be a couple years before it goes in as I need to round up more parts. Going to put a cam in the 351 this winter to see if it wakes it up some and it will go in the 65 4 door when the 55 gets the 292.

Picked up a 67 FMX trans today that I found on craigslist for 30 dollars, according to the 67 shop manual it has a rear pump so push starts could be a possibility. I had people questioning my desire for a trans that can push start but I like the option and if I can do it I will,I got the motor and trans cheap but the rebuild costs will more then make up for it.
