Yeah, Jeff and I were joking last nite about a build thread. We should have been able to get a couple of pages from all we did last nite. I brought my greasy clothes with me to work cause we're going to hit it hard again tonite if the weather holds. Might have to go back out to Starks this weekend for a few parts that are missing. I couldn't put the new front plate on last nite, there wasn't a bracket.

I don't think that 300 CID stuff will fit, besides I got this to economiclly drive to and from work. Not build an H/MP out of it. I would like to get some stuff like that down the road if I can scrape up the dough. Either that or Jeff's got a set of V8 mounts................

I thought the bell on a 250 was the same as a 302. I know the starter's in a different location than on the 200 in the brown wagon. Going out to Stark's on a hunting trip again Saturday. Gotta find some odds and ends. Hasn't been run that much but it's almost quit smoking. Lord knows it's old enough. We put all new headlites in it this evening and took out the original Ford script headlites. Any restorers need a couple of OEM headlites for a 70 1/2 Falcon...................... John?

I got some pics coming for a 2 door version and if its decent and priced right might buy it,it has a 250/automatic but if I get it the 460 thats in my beater truck will be going in it and will race it. My girlfriend wants to race my 65 4 door and if I get the 70 1/2 it will be my race car,it looks like I will have to get a 2 car trailer if I do this.

Look at this, we almost go three pages filled up and haven't done anything. We're just a bunch of windbags.Falcon Eddie's 1970-1/2 Falcon 4 door driver build - Page 2 Icon_clown

I'd like to put header on it and maybe a 2 stage two barrel. I think that's help milage and performance. Plus I got an old open 4:11 I can throw in it to help eat up the small V8's. Falcon Eddie's 1970-1/2 Falcon 4 door driver build - Page 2 Icon_cheers

I just have to keep my focus on the Mercury and my Ford wagon and remember that the Falcon was purchased to drive to work to be able to afford parts for the wagon.

Now I'm lost. Jeff probably won't be able to find us now. There was talk that if the weather was nice we might paint the hood. Any ideas as to a color? It has to be cheap. I'm going to have to clean out my photobucket and get some pics of that thing up on here. Those new front tires are the BOMB!! It looks soooo race ready. With the new paint job on the front rims and those new headlites, it looks like it's doing about 35 MPH while it's setting still. Those new HyPo headlites are almost over the top.

Post by Mr. Fabulous November 12th 2009, 11:38 pm

Yeah, that's what I did with the front rims. Plan on the dog dish caps off the white wagon. The problem with painting the hood white (and I even got some of the right color paint at home somewhere) is that all the holes in the leading edge will show up dark and big time. Falcon Eddie's 1970-1/2 Falcon 4 door driver build - Page 2 Icon_redface The thing has a GT hood on it with an open scoop. I thought Flat Black (left over paint from the Merc) might look ok. The holes wouldn't be as visible. I know it's goofy for a four door but.................

Jeff seems to think I might be able to get someone to trade the GT hood for a plain hood. I haven't checked to see if Harwood makes a glass hood for it. That seems like the easy way to fix it. Then I would paint it to match the body for sure.

I plan on doing the back rims in white also when I can get some tires for it. I want to get some just a little bigger than the front 205/75 R14s.

Oh yeah........how we doin here for a build log? Sure is a lotta BS!

The hood is one to use on a church going vehicle. It's pretty Holy! Jeff seems to think it could be fixed but it seems pretty far gone to me. It'd be neat but it's so ate up. The front edge is almost toast. Maybe if Jeff gets the racing two door he'll want to trade. He'll need all that air for that enormous huge 460 racing engine. One can always hope.

I still don't understand building a race car and sticking in a slug 460. Sleep

I figure if I keep that up Dog will have to say something sooner or later. He's the one with the 1000 HP 460. Remeber that wicked billet rod and piston that he keeps in his truck to show everyone. That thing was huge! And mangled!
.
.
.
Now that I think about it I don't see any Chevy guys carry around 454 rods that snap like that. That must count for something. lol!
.
..
I think I'm going to buy all you Ford guys a Chevy 350 for Christmas. You guys will be converted! santa lol!

Yeah, right. There is no substitute for cubic inches. (Ask Joey) Those little chevy motors are ok if that's all you know or can afford. The big Ford motors are quite a bit more expensive to build than the "Throw away" GM motors. It costs a little bit more to go first class. Just ask the Dog!

A hard day at the yard has netted a front license plate bracket and that's it. They had four of the right body style but nothing but busted grilles. Dog........where is there one? We put some new horns on (we were pretty horny this afternoon). Painted the front plate bracket and put it on, put a ground wire on the fuel sending unit hoping that would make it register better and replaced a rear wheel cylinder. Still have to fix a front parking light, get the interior light working, find a damn grille, and put a dome light in. The next hunting trip will be after Thanksgiving either to Mt. Sterling or Modoc accourding to the junkyard master........Jeff. Plan on driving it home Tuesday nite, I'm sooo excited I can hardly wait. Anybody want to trade a GT hood with an open scoop for a plan old Falcon or Fairlane hood. I'm afraid that forced cold air thru that open GT scoop might be just a little much for rompin stompin 250 incher currently setting between the front fenders. Man, I just can hardly wait to scrub this baby down and put on a healthy coat of Turtle Wax. Don't have any more BS to add right now. If we turn a few wrenches in the future, I'll be sure to document it here. I know your supposed to pictures on a build log and since I don't have any of the car we've been working on I thought I'd post one of a Falcon of the correct year with a complete grille like Jeff and I were hunting.

I like the sound of that old Studie motor. Those solid lifters are something you don't hear anymore. Years ago, all the cars with racing cams had solid lifters. They sound so cool.

I have a VERY rare 1970 1/2 Ford Falcon project that i started over 4 years ago and now has lost interest. Google 1970 1/2 Ford Falcon for more info if you are not aware of history. Most people confuse this half year model Falcon as a Torino. When we bought the car, It was a rolling chasis. I spent most of my summer sanding the body down to bare metal. Had a professional body shop fix the few minor dings and dents and then primer it. The body is now ready to be painted and everything is removed allowing for a professional paint color change (the original was very ugly pea green). I have replaced front drum brake spindles with disc brake spindles along with new rotors, pads and bearings. The rear end has been replaced with a Ford 9" rear end also with 275 posi trac, I have Original dash is in very good shape. I have dropped in a Fresh 351W with mid cam and automatic transmission that was working prior to installing. I installed new headers on the 351W prior to installing motor but there is no exhaust past the headers. Grille and headlight buckets have been repainted to match Cobra scheme as we were planning on building a Cobra clone. Seats were re-upholstered professionally by previous owner and they have been stretch film wrapped until just recently. No rust, straight body and frame. Bumpers need to be re-chromed as well as a lot of the chrome moldings. All glass is near perfect. The car has never seen the outside of my garage since it was primered. I also have a Ford C6 transmission that goes with the car for anyone wanting to put in a big block. The original radiator was professionally rebuilt and tested not too long ago and we also have the radiator that came with the 302. I need the space in my garage. I have a clear Texas title which was signed over to me but never actually re-titled since we were not sure how long we would take to finish the car. I have right at $4,800 into this project. I have two flat hoods and i also have a set of bucket seats and a NEW set of 1970 Texas plates. YES IT WILL CRANK AND RUN
