The Good Grandson II, Lettering the GMC
Before I show you too much. Some of the build long is on the link below. If David finishes the old log we can add this to it but for now there is a big gap in the log. The truck is on the road and running and Jose has been out cruising around.

Re: The Good Grandson II, Lettering the GMC
David Hill II & his Grandpa Jose.
.
This is one of those jobs that had a personal effect on me. Jose wanted a hot rod. He's nuts over them. At over 70 years of age he is still like a little kid when he see's a cool truck or car. The love that David has for his Grandpa is something you just don't see. He went out and found an old beater truck, brought it to Hilltop Hot Rods and we did some of the hard stuff to get it close. Frame swap, engine and so on. David then took it and gave it to his Grandpa as a gift. Together they finished the truck and got it on the road, working on it together. Jose is so proud of his hot rod rig. Nothing compared to how proud he is of his grandson but he's proud. Last night David talked to Taco and had him do some lettering. He put his last name on the doors, some stripes and something on the dash.

Re: The Good Grandson II, Lettering the GMC
While Jose was watching Taco he was telling him stories about his dad. Jose is in his 70's and is still reflecting on his dad. His dad raced midgets and rode and old Indian. He rode that bike even in the winter, he had to get to work. The stories moved Taco. After he got done (almost) he told Jose HE was going to do the tailgate himself. He's never done anything like this but he agreed. When it was time he did. I was blown away at watching this man paint on his own truck. Something that he has wanted for longer than almost any of us have been alive.

When it was all over I told him he wasn't allowed to watch what was going on the dash. Taco and I got in and we were talking while Taco lettered his dash with Jose's father's name. It moved Taco and myself. Both of us have lost our dad's. I couldn't get out of the truck at first for the tears in my eyes. With a garage full of people I got out and let Jose see what it said. Last night was a really special night. The love, thoughtfulness and emotions with almost everyone is not something you normally see with a bunch of grown men and women. It really makes you feel good to see these things and to know people care.

Very Awesome build. I just finished reading the whole build. Sounds like a memory maker. One hell of a build. Nice to see all it has made it back on the road and in the hands of someone whole truly loves Hot Rods.
