Re: Rusty, the 53 Dodge
I'm hanging in there, now if could stop doing stupid stuff. I was outside a few minutes ago trying to use a wire tester and couldn't get my arm or the tester to work. What did I do? Throw it on the ground and bust it using my bad arm. Real smart. Just came on it the house holding my arm. Stuff is messing with my mind. At least I can now brush my teeth left handed without busting the brush into my gums. That only took me 4 days to stop doing. lol

Re: Rusty, the 53 Dodge
4 days ago I finished up the body mounts and dropped the cab back on the frame for the last time, I hope. Since then I been doing some wiring and other stuff. Today was rainy but there was a car show up the road at Home Depot. I cruised up. First trip this old truck has taken under her own power in 20 or 30 years.

Re: Rusty, the 53 Dodge
Still a lot to do but it runs and is legal. Made it to the car show in the rain with a light rearend and no wipers, it was a fun trip. Pulled in and only people that were there was the National VP and the National Road Captain. What's up with that. Rain scared 'em away. Little late but after I got home I took the 30 years of grime off the windshield. Scraped it down with Windex and a razor blade. Followed by a lot of scrubbing and then some RainX on the outside and after cleaning some AntiFog on the inside. She's ready for another dance in the rain!

Re: Rusty, the 53 Dodge
I found some weak spots already. The rear pinion seal made a mess of the back of the cab. Another rear end was swapped in place and 2" lower blocks were put in.
The rear frame was bent after the spring. No biggie. I was bobbing the frame anyway. What was left I use a big sledge hammer to put it back where it goes.

As you can see we made it official. Kevin "Taco" Geary is the newest member of the club. Being in mid state he not too close to anyone but he is at reach and travels everywhere. He's a Scroungers CC Nomad so he may pop up anywhere, so if he does show him a warm welcome please.

Re: Rusty, the 53 Dodge
Finished up some of the wood for the sideboards. Put in some scroll work, stained and cleared it all. Put a floor in the bed so I could hauls some junk. Bed is a little ratty looking but it will sooner or later get a nice floor.
Taillights are not going to stay. Just put them on to drive it. Need to find something cool.

Re: Rusty, the 53 Dodge
I'm really not sure. I was thinking something like Model A's but they are overdone. Something simple that will hang off the sides below the bed.
