David wondering what he got himself into. I thought it was funny he kept asking me questions and I wasn't too sure what he was asking me. It almost sounded like panic or worry. I told him I wasn't sure what he was asking but then went on to tell him I wasn't worried about the build. The worse part to me was getting the truck 20 feet through the mud to the garage. lol. I'm ready to rock and roll.

Nice score, so with as fast as you work Steve it should be done by this weekend. (providing there's enough Dr. Pepper) If it was mine I'd dump the bumper and shorten the bed.....just my 2 cents

Got all the junk out of the bed plus what was left of the floor. Someone welded the back of the bed to the frame. That was fun. Got it all loose and ready to take off. Here I am trying to figure out how to get a cut off wheel into where the welded the bed on.

Aryan and I yanked the hood off and unhook everything from the engine. David had been junk yarding and brought back some of the brake set up we are going to use. Grandpa is getting power brakes. After David got there we pulled the bed and put it on the new frame. It's just resting there. Nothing is bolted down. Running boards came off next.

Busy with other stuff so only a couple hours of work today. Steering wheel, brake, clutch pedals are off. Couple other things. Bill stopped over today and brought some parts too. Everything is going smooth so far. Just wish it was a tad bit warmer.

Not much to show. Got the cab pulled back and waiting on the brake stuff to get the power brakes on the firewall. After that the firewall can be painted up and transferred to the new frame. I'm at a standstill waiting on parts. I can't do anything else.

David your grandpa is a awesome guy and your a great grandson for doing this surprise build for him. He's going to be so excited. We should all get together and have a short cruise when you give it to him. How cool would that be.

We found the stock pipe was copper that goes to connect the lower radiator hose. David cleaned it up. We will be using copper on other stuff to keep the look going.

David sanded down some of the firewall after I de-wired all the mess. He also ripped the head off to save it.
The Good Grandson, David Hill - Page 2 01311

I started on the power brake stuff. Grandpa will have an old looking truck but it's going to be able to stop well for him. Why not have some comfort while driving.
I mocked up the booster, cut out the plate and welded it in from the back. This will support the firewall so it won't flex as much.

Whipped up another 2x4 set up for the hoist and off came the cab after getting everything unbolted and out of the way.

The old frame is moved out of the way and I stripped everything off it I figured would be worth keeping. Not sure what David wants to do with the rest. If he's not wanting to haul it off I'll shove it back in the woods with the rest of the scrap and dispose of it this summer.
