33 Austin.
I have been putting this together for a little while, Its a 33 Austin Box Saloon, which has in my eyes has a bit of 29A in it,
As it came home no frame no chassis, no axles, nothing except RUST, in some really nasty places, The plans were to power it with a Suzuki SuperBike engine, but plans have changed, as they do. it would have worked as the car without driver will weigh just over 600lbs....
Chassis are pretty basic, having a forged nosepiece and a pressed top hat section---- they flex.
Bits have been coming together, probably not as fast as I like, changing plans are never a good Idea halfway thru a build, Wheels are Aston Martin DB2/4 16" wires, Axle is a real oddball, being from a Reliant Robin, a fiberglass economy car, but looks right at home on the car.. (google Reliant Robin if you want a laugh)
Finned alloy drums and splined hubs for the wheels,
This WAS the engine I was going to use, a Suzuki TLR V twin, but there were far too many issues with the engine and packaging of it.
So I have now gone with this, A Toyota 4AGE 16valve, A good little engine, reputedly a copy of a Ford Cosworth engine. The engine will be stripped of all obvious identity smoother cam covers, Ill make a cast ally belt cover, Dissy will be gone, keep the Dellortos, serpentine belts will go and replaced with V Belt. Retro Alternator that looks like a Dynamo, braided fabric Ignition leads, etc etc. It should make 150hp, in a car that weighs 800lbs with driver, 75" wheelbase, its going to be FUN....

Nice build- I like the lines of the car, and yes it does look like a Ford Cosworth.... It's obvious you aren't in the states, strictly by the hardware you get to use! Neat stuff- love that engine.

Re: 33 Austin.
Yep, you have guessed I live further afield than the US, Bexhill on Sea, in the UK, famous for being the Birthplace of British Motor racing, 1897 I think. But not much more,
My inspiration for the car is this 33 Austin, Known to be built in the uk, believed to be about 1962. hopefully it will be a little different, a bit more refined. Dunno, lets see what comes-----
I was at a loose end the other week and thought a radiator ornament might look good, goes a little against the ethos of the car as the rocket weighs lots, and the car is meant to be light. but I love it....

I'm gonna guess that a "loose end" is a flea market, or yard sale? Thrift shop type of location I would guess. The photo above really gives an idea of the classic lines of this vehicle- just gorgeous... lends itself to the american sedans of the 20's and 30's. Our most beautiful vehicles were built then. My opinion.

At a Loose end, means not enough to do or finishing up things,--- I was bored, So I machined the rocket body on my lathe out of solid brass bar, it has plenty of weight.
We do have boot fairs which are sorta garage sales, Auto jumbles are swap meets,

Re: 33 Austin.
Now this is a cool wicked fun project! Love the ornament and seeing your fab work. The serpentine set-up might be nice to keep though for ease of the swap (brackets and belt). But that's just my 2 cents, sir.
Later,
Lee
P.S. Amazing find on the A-M wire wheels...I'd love to just have one hanging on my garage wall for the coolness factor.

Re: 33 Austin.
Had an early evening out on the car, trying to work out pedal position, they are going to be hanging from the bottom of the dash or something like that, I was just about to start cutting metal, and just in time I remembered, the Christmas break has been marked for channelling the car 2" could have been a silly mistake, pedals are going to be tight no matter what, I am NOT changing them for anything else as they are far too cool, Pretty funky for a production car, I might just have to move the pedals closer together,
