" I'm sorry, did I dislocate your shoulder when I jerked the keys out of your hand?"
Re: 1948 Austin Dorset 2-door
Your Chevy is much cooler, more desirable and more valuable. I wouldn't do it unless you are really in love with the Austin and plan on keeping it, or there was some good cash coming your way with it.

Re: 1948 Austin Dorset 2-door
It may be just my personal taste. I just never liked the back end of a 35. The Austin is what it is but I wouldn't trade two 35's for that Austin. I think with todays market and the area we are in with the 35 and the Austin sitting side by side the Austin would sell better. The 35 still needs alot of stuff done. As for keeping it, that won't happen. John will play with it till he's bored and it will be gone or traded for something cooler.

Re: 1948 Austin Dorset 2-door
dude called tonight, wants to do the deal, but weather sucks, they had ice storms south of us pretty bad, so maybe before Christmas, I talked to all of you, and I called Danny Mink, owner of Danny's for those of you who don't know him, he said apples to apples, the value would be the same $$ if it were a 37-38 chev, (no wood) maybe slightly higher, but, now, the Austin is one of those cars that is a true timeless hot rod, no question hands down...the chev is more of a gangster car, so if the deal can be done, I will do it, I found a SWEET Grille for the Austin already, if I get it....
Re: 1948 Austin Dorset 2-door
It's already trimmed out for re sale red. I'd paint it red. Toss a whopping price tag on it and drive the eyeballs out of it till some yuppie buys it.

I like it. Looks like it was a good trade. Guess you'll have it out at our first track day in 2011.

Re: 1948 Austin Dorset 2-door
Found the prior owner of the car in NC....Buford (whom I bought it from in TN) did ALOT of work...now my turn.....I am thinking a little better paint, maybe some lettering???cleaning up the whole car, fixing the raido, Grille, change the gauges, and wheels....I need to do somthing....
Re: 1948 Austin Dorset 2-door
Did you get that grille you was talking about? I like that little car. Should be a fun toy. Looks a lot better now than then.
Why are you changing the wheels? It's not a gasser or a beater, it's more of a street rod. The wheels would match it with some nice red paint on the body.
