Re: Our youth in hot rodding
Movie car but I thought it was cool. Maybe 60 seconds in the movie and within that time you pick up two hitch hikers for them to only find out the driver is a nut with a piece of hose ran into the car from the exhaust to get stoned. Get's crazy on the highway and rolls this beast over only to jump out and open the trunk to let out the rabbits so he can go hunting. As if that wasn't a great 60 second you get to see the master of power punches, Clint Eastwood knock the guy out and take his shotgun! Oh I almost forgot about the raccoon in the car. You got to love the 70's.

Thunderbolt and lightfoot, man haven't seen that movie in years, need to find that on DVD. Love the pick of the tunnel ram Camaro out in the snow. I know as a kid, my Chevelle was my only car, it got driven sun, rain, or snow. (boy oh boy was a spool fun in the rain and snow)

I'm with you Steve, that's my favorite style Camaro, but has to have the split bumper.

The Baldwin-Motion cars are truly wicked looking. I'm not a fan of Al Rosen though so I would pass on a replica. These cars do 'get' the stance of the very early 1970s down.

Re: Our youth in hot rodding
I contacted Al Rosen in 1979 while in V school because i wanted to do a report on dealer built super cars, he was very rude, stated that since no one appreciated his cars when he built them, he could give a crap less about some high school punk trying to pass a class.Nanook wrote:The Baldwin-Motion cars are truly wicked looking. Sadly, that's about par for the course with him. A real shame for sure...rude people just suck the enjoyment out of even the simplest of things.

It's amazing how simple a nasty response/experience/gesture can sour you on a person or even an entire hobby. Hence why you should always tryt o put on a good face. I've run into it in the car hobby, plastic modeling hobby and fish-keeping hobby. And every time it is just deflating.
I am sorry you had to have such a lousy experience but I am glad you stuck with being into cars.

Re: Our youth in hot rodding
These are the epitome of a street machine. It's got it all... I do remember a time in my youth that I despised these cars- simply because it "was a Chevy, for god's sake". I would love to have one now. I don't car what brand it is, if it has "the look" it's welcome in my driveway! And "the look" changes with make , model, and year. This one's got it- without question.

Re: Our youth in hot rodding
Doesn't this Concept Stang from the early years remind you of the newer years?

A few birds!

If it wasn't for the wheelie bars, this Plymouth would definitely be lost.
----------------------------
I don't remember this one having the high wing, but on the Superbird, I remember that one!
----------------------------
I had to throw this one up, it's hilarious!
