Been puting a wood stove in the garage so i can work on my car . Yea we got heat now

Been cleaning the cottage and the house for the visit from my oldest daughter and my grandsons.(Oh yea and my son-in-law)

Just held up on money so i have a slow trickle of parts coming in. Hour here, hour there.  

Had to replace EVERY brake line....Rotors, Pads and take front hub speed sensors out, clean where they sat, all the Tahoe forum's said the rust builds around them, lifting them just far enough that they can't read...THEY WERE RIGHT....Rusty dang Chevrolet....WHOLE underside is RUSTY.....



Sunday had to replace Rear Hub Bearings on my Subaru Outback.....one REAL bad....other....well...160,000 might as well while I am there.....

It is just another way to make a cheaper car! They all do it.

landlord got a deal on grounded down black top, so a full dump truck got dumped right in front of the garage doors pretty much, next year hopefully ill be fixing up my little 2 bay shack, haven't touched the truck in a month or so.

really thinking about selling it. for something older, I don't know ive got a 54 chevy on my mind that I found local. slammed, hot rod black, green laced roof, whitewalls. ooooo yeah

All I done so far was chase down a rattle in the front suspension in the 37,thought it was I did not put the clamps back on after rebuilding the springs but I think it ended up being a loose shock bracket. I have not driven it since I was tinkering with it due to salt on the roads,next is to replace the master cylinder since at times it has no brakes for a second and rebuilding a Carter YF carb to replace the leaky Rochester. When the 37 is done its off to the 55 which will get a more rpm correct cam (RV) and the front seat rebuilt,thinking about a new rear window but will do that in the spring or summer since dealing with plastic windows in a cold garage can be a pain.

Rattle is gone and removed the floor to get at the master cylinder,while I am in there I will replace the battery since it will be 6 years old in a couple months. That battery has been questionable since it was a year old,time seems to fly since the batteries have been installed as I had another that was 8 years old go bad last week.

I don't think I have ever had a battery last 8 years.

The original battery in my parent's oldsmobile lasted 10 years but it rarely gets driven. Plus it being under the back seat keeps it from getting hot.

Put sneakers on the service truck, going through the plow truck now. Tis the season.... needed new plow lights, a pump motor, fluid change, all brakes pulled apart and cleaned, will probably need a caliper or two. Got one of the Mustangs jacked up today to pull the toploader out. Second gear needs some attention. Will put in whatever it needs. Grind the flywheel while I'm there. Take a close look at the clutch and PP, if it needs one, it'll get it. It's been tough to get some hot rod time, business has been crazy busy with a fair amount of outside work, with temps during the day around 20 it's been tough to get motivated, but with the backlog, you can't think about it. Plus some of the major indoor work has been stuff I haven't normally seen in quite a number of years, like broken flywheel housings. 3 to do all at once- things tend to come in 3's around here. Requires having to indicate, and recenter the new housing, and boring for oversize dowels. Some air range shift troubles on transmissions I have never seen before. A fairly new model transmission not commonly spec'ed in trucks in this area. Finally overcame the challenge and got that one sorted out. Been shopping online for a replacement service truck... looking for a 4x4 F-350. Partial to V-10's, but giving a lot of thought to 1st generation 7.3 powerstroke as well. Trouble is, those in this area are rusted to pieces, so I have been looking south and west to find something. The truck situation has gotten to the point that you either buy new and pay the long dollar for warranty, or go old and get something from the south or west and go thru it and rebuild it before using it.

So yes, occasionally working on the hot rods, between other catastrophes.

Waiting on the painter right now for my bay the 61'. Doing a little compressor framing to get a little more room in the garage.

Went and picked up a chopped 1970 El Camino yesterday. Drove it 120 miles home with no issues. Now to make it mine.

Put a door latch on one of the daily drivers,found out the lock motors I got off a friend will not work but now all doors will lock. I replaced the drivers door lock motor twice and will not use a aftermarket replacement again since they only last about 6 months,its back to the junkyard where I got the latch next saturday to get all the lock motors. Did I ever say I do not like working on the internal parts of doors.

The S10 is mine to. It's getting lowered a couple inches and might get the Rallys off the El Camino if I can find something I like better.

I'm finding that people either love it or they hate it. LOL

I like it. Only thing I'd ditch may be those late model side mirrors.
