Cleaning out the barn Empty Cleaning out the barn

Post by TAHOE October 8th 2013, 3:33 pm

My father past away in Dec and my wife and I are planning on moving into my mom's house so barn needs to be cleaned out so I have some room for my stuff. My dad was a maintenace man for 50yrs for a local bank and child of the depression so he kept pretty much everything..."someone might be able to use this" . Anytime the bank remodeled, he kept what he could get.
He could be a member of the Scroungers club if there is one for construction/building supplies. Very Happy

I pulled out the old Allis Chalmers I grew up on, broke rod in 1990, been in barn ever since. I plan to try to rebuild motor this winter. Also is the old Gravely walk behind he got from the bank when they were going to "throw it out". Hasn't ran in 15 yrs, that's on my project list too.
We found lumber, an old stainless restaraunt since/stove, louvered bi fold doors, and 4 pieces of 4'x4' 1" thick marble, not sure what to do with that, bunch of old aluminum windows, would be great for a garage or barn. All kinds of stuff still in there and I'm still not finished.
This weekend we attack the upper garage, I know there is an old stove type incinerator, poker table, portable dance floor, old transim style storm door ( kind with little glass panels that open) and who know what else.
Anything strikes anyone, give me a yell!

I did some burning in between the cleaning of old skids/lumbers, etc. Can beat the redneck fire pit! Laughing

I'd like to have that marble but man that stuff can cost big money and I really don't know what I'd do with it right now.. I'd put it on Craigs List and see if anyone bites. That old wood sled would more than likely catch some cash from someone into antiques.

I like the burning tub. Good idea!

Yea, I more than likely will put stuff on CL. The marble would make some nice counter tops or the likes, but it would require some one who knows how to cut, grind, etc. I know it came out of a bank that had it on the walls in an entrance way, very classy back then, probably installed in the 40's or 50's.

I don't have anymore pics. I will post them up once we start more cleaning to see if anyone would want something.

My dad had the tub, took an old axe, punched holes in the bottom. once she gets burning, it will keep on going.

Actually got the garage cleaned out.
Old paper incinerator, could make a out building wood stove?? poker table, cabinets, dance floor, cage fans, small in the wall bathroom style heaters, 2 sided stainless steel kitchen sink, never used.
If any thing sounds interesting, I can post pics and price. I gotta get rid of this stuff like soon. There will be a chain saw taken to some cabinets if they don't go.
I tried to use website uploader, pics are too large, have to try if anyone is interested in anything.

My boy needs a set for his 79. It felt funny one day and I looked under it and the T bolts where broke on both sides. I popped the u bolts off to replace everything and the springs fell apart in my hands. I thought I'd get the ones off that Z but they were all busted up too.

I will check, these were rusty, but not broken if I remember. Maybe a few days though until snow melts as they are behind my garage.

That pic was from 2006 when we bought it, but has been under carport all the time.
It weighs 2600 or so dry, about 3-3100 with water and supplies. Pulls great and only takes about 20 mins to fully set up.
We were going to as around $3K on CL in spring, but would let it go cheaper to a buddy Very Happy . I will replace tires too and fix a couple things before selling.
Best part is it folds down like a popup, but it's al hard sided, no canvas.
I pulled it with the S10 Blazer and then the Astro and Tahoe.

Cleaning out the barn Empty Re: Cleaning out the barn

Post by TAHOE April 11th 2014, 3:46 pm

Ok guys/gals, not sure if I should start a new thread in for sale section, here's a list of some thing to go, I can get pics if any interest.
pics would have to be email type thing. I do not have a cell at the moment, but I can take pics with my old cell phone and send them through email from that, just no texting pics or uploading.

Make me an offer, I need to NOT take this stuff when I move.

*Old Sears/Craftsman table saw with table ext, probably 60's/70's.
I think it needs a new motor, I might have one that would work.
* Small drill press press mounted on stand. Needs new chuck key
( can get a multi size at hardware store)
* old incinerator stove. Was gas fired, used to burn old papers
could be used for outdoor burn barrle or maybe turn into a big
smoker grill
* old parkay wooden dance floor, 9 good 4x4 sections that bolt
together. maybe use in garage or small space as temp flooring.
* A couple larger squirrel cage furnace fans, these are good size
make nice fans for working out in garage, move a lot of air.
I would have to make sure they all work.
* Old small utility tilt trailer with extension on front. I think guy
hauled like a trike style 3 wheeler. This is really rough, good frame
tough to built a small trailer Axle ruste in hald, rims/tires shot.
Has thinner diamond plate floor. I started cutting it out to use so
would need re-welded in. I was going to cut up and make small
yard trailer or other tractor implements.
* Y pipe, downpipe from a 95 Chevy pickup.
* complete dual exhaust from a 79 camaro. Header collectors into
dual convertors to turbo muffers, exit right behind rear tires.
pipe kind of small but good if ya just need something or need pipe
for another project.
* various 79-81 camaro parts, grills, dash bezel, AC unit, maybe
others.
* Steel desk w/ 2 drawers, about 26-28" deep, maybe 4" wide.
Would make nice shorter work bench.
* Aluminum transit style windows. These are buried in the barn
right now, would make decent windows for an old barn/garage.
* 93' Chevy Ext cab, long bed heavy 1500 truck 4x4. This was my
dad's I inherited, it has sat for a min of 3 yrs with very weak 2nd
gear. Needs tranny rebuilt/replaced, brake lines, has a 2 week
battery drain gremlin ( me thinks the vent door motor) and
rust everywhere, frame, every body panel has rust holes, no
rockers, etc. Motor has 183K, but still fires up and runs.
Has decent tires, but keeping those.
$ 800 Firm, I can part it out and scrap rest for that. Maybe make
good farm truck if fixed, it has 6 or 7 leaves in the back.
Dad had almost 2 1/2 tons of gravel on this 1/2 ton!

*We have a lot more stuff in my mom's garage, barn and my barn. come visit and take a look. I'm keeping most of the machines realetd stuff, tractors, tller, etc, but we have some older furniture, old bottle decanters, and various other "junk"  lol!  . Maybe interest for people who like older collection/knick knack stuff. My mom has a bunch of old dolls also and a bunch of 8 track tapes and 33's, mostly southern gospel/older country ( 60'/70's)
