So...thinking about changing out the front end on the 39.
I have a corvair front end with disc and mustang rack under it now.
Looking at mustang 2 front ends. Who has a good front end for the $$$?
Does anybody have any advise? Maybe where or where not to get one.
Thanks

I was looking at them in the Speedway catalog a while back. Not sure about the pricing but speedway isn't too bad on some things.

So...Found a stock 78 mustang 2. The guy had 3. It was like a min. Junkyard. Had him wack out the front end. I'm going to clean it up and rebuild, Install. Should be a bit cheaper than buying a kit....Where is the fun in a kit anyways Laughing
I will post some pics. as i go forgot to take pics when I went to get it. Rolling Eyes

They were just kids 25 or 26 selling the stuff off. I think they were going to the bar when I left! drunken It was a 2 1/2 hr drive to get there only to find out the kid didn't understand that when I said I wanted him to cut it off at the fire wall. (He kept telling me ya I know what you want.) I had just had shoulder surgery. So I went with my Dad and a buddy. looked at what he had ready and all that is there is suspension No crossmember. confused I told him I needed the crossmember and he said oh ya let me get that. He brings me the trans crossmember Laughing So I went out to the car and showed him what I was talking about...He gets the torches out and starts to cut.
Side note my Dad is a welder buy trade...This kid is not. I took him about 2 hr to get that cut out. But gave me all the parts to both cars for the same price so I got 2 of everything excluding the crossmember. turn out to be worth the trip all them parts for 250. He told me he felt bad about the mistake. They didn't turn out to be to bad stood around shooting the breeze for a bit.
Then another 2 1/2 hr back home..I was beat and in bad need of a pain pill.

I've been talking with the fucktards at Fatman, to be honest so far they have been more (BEEP then good. They have a shitty customer service so I've held off purchasing. Every time I say what I want all they do is up sell up sell up sell.

It seems that is all they want to do these days is sell you more.  After I buy the 11" disk kit and new bushings I will have about 650. in mine so that is the way Im going. But you would have to find a mustang , Pinto , bob cat to get the front end out of 74-78. They can say alot about using a stock crossmember Bad and good. You would have to go with your comfort level on this. Its realy not any harder.  Not a fatman fan anyway. Not very good customer servise. When I start mine I will be posting pics.
Good luck Bill

It's a shame you can't get good service from people now a days. I guess that is lost in today companies. Just reading this is enough for me not to worry about using Fatman's stuff.

I've read a lot of bad stuff about Fatman's, too. I have read nothing but good things about Rod & Custom Motorsports. http://www.rcmotorsportsinc.com/index.html
They have a somewhat limited list of vehicles but they do say if you don't see your car listed, call them. It is a family owned business and I have read numerous times that if you have questions, they are more than happy to help you out. That is who I'm going with when I get back on the Comet.

A friend was working on an old hot rod with a Mustang II front end shoved in it. He got the hoses backwards and the front end was up on jack stands. He went through the window and started the car. The wheels took off shooting from side to side so hard it sounded like it was going to rip the frame in two. It was crazy. If he would have poked his hand through the steering wheel it would have done a number on him.

Yes that is a crack in the crossmember...I put that copping in and it should have been reinforced a bit more!
But I'm glad I found it when I did. Some body must have been looking over my shoulder.
