Re: 71 datsun 510 wagon
That Datsun reminds me of when I bought my 54 F-100.... I had to buy the 54 as a package deal with another vehicle- a 72 Honda 600 sedan. Yep, the original clown car. Had new sneakers on it, it wasn't a complete rust bucket, it came from Jersey, so rust wasn't real bad. The old couple drove it to western NY in the early 80's, she drove it here one summer in NY, then parked it. I did get the little snot running, I kinda had to, other wise I couldn't get anyone interested in buying it. It didn't run real good, and the clutch disc was rusted to the flywheel, but it ran enough to satisfy a fellow from connecticut to give me $500 for it, and it was gone and outta my sight. It was so small you had to park it with the windows rolled up so the neighborhood dogs wouldn't pee in the windows. It had a full set of manuals with it, and I do believe the 0-50 performance was 23 seconds. Not bad for a 2 cyl 600cc motorcycle engine.

Re: 71 datsun 510 wagon
its been awhile since I posted but things are slowly coming together on the car.
I did a wire tuck on the engine bay and engine, everything electrical is hooked up in these pics except the maf plug.
there wasn't an easy way to hide the coil and ignitor chip wires.
I also relocated the fuse block and relays to inside the car, the fuse block use to sit where the O2 sensor is. next comes pulling the engine and welding up all the unused holes.
you can see the new fuel lines I made on the fire wall, I still have to make brackets to hold them in there just hanging there right now.
I finally got around to mounting the mx3 seats in, the inside rail on these sat an inch lower so I had to put in a spacer to make them sit even. they sit lower than the stock ones which is nice and still slide and recline.
A friend gave me and under dash A/C unit, and a rear hatch.
A/C unit mocked up in car to make brackets (it didn't come with any, and these units are hard to find) and before cleaning.
A/C unit after cleaning and paint.
and freebie hatch that will prob get something random painted on it just because.
before
after some cleaning, need to sand and fix some dents now.
theres lots more progress but I don't have pics of it lol.

Re: 71 datsun 510 wagon
You use to be able to but the server for the forum switched stuff around so much that I don't know how to do it. Someone else may chime in on how to.

Re: 71 datsun 510 wagon
Go into your photobucket, pull up video you want. Then under the Links to share, find the "IMG" line, click on link to high light, the right click and copy ( do this if you just pull up album on your main photo-b page. If you pull up the video separately, the img link will auto copy when you click on it) . Then come to your post, right click and paste. It will show a picture that people can click on and it should take them directly to video.squatches wrote:thanks for the link, but is there a way to post them with out youtube? Re: 71 datsun 510 wagon
been awhile since ive posted, but i have gotten some more done on the wagon.
new clutch master, line and slave in.
swapped the 240sx speedo into the 510 cluster, i had to do some cutting and modify the internals from the 240 to work with the 510 face cover.
510 face next to 240 face with 240 internals.
240 speedo internals mounted to 510 face.
had to stick the original 510 needle back on. 240 needle was to long.

Re: 71 datsun 510 wagon
thanks guys!! almost done patching up the passenger side floor board.
what i cut out/ fell out...
patch panel i made.
almost done.
found a drive shaft that fit with out any modifications, and put fuel lines in.
their not to pretty but they work atleast.
got these in the mail the other day, its took me forever to find some engine mounts that weren't 50 apiece.
in
made a trans crossmember, ignore the mix matched bolts it was to late to get bolts from the store so i used what i had laying around for mock up.
and my company while under the car.

Re: 71 datsun 510 wagon
i finally got to drive the car for the first time with the ka in it, prob pissed off all the neighbors because its just open header right now. but it was fairly quick for what little distance i took it, now to finish the exhaust and get it idling right. but atleast its moving under its own power now.
