I have been talking to Stretch a bit. It's great to see hot rodding around the world. The Guys are from England and it sounds like they got it together. Here are some words and photos he sent me.

The rod scene over here is pretty good with a wide variety of machinery, no jap rice burners, we have a group with a handfull of guys we are known as "ooh ooh motorsport" as when we used to go to shows people would look and piont at the cars and say "OOH look at that car, so ooh ooh was born.

Their self discribed saying is "ooh ooh boyz old skool toyz" Twisted Evil

I see the Suburban is left hand drive. Wonder how much of their American iron is right hand drive. That would be different, if you rolled into a cruise-in in that big ole Caddy right hand drive. Shocked

Man, I'd sure love to have one of your Anglias or Austins. I think when most of us think of an Anglia over here the vision of an E494A is what comes to mind or a Popular 103E. I love those old things and the Prefect E93A four door saloons. There was one of those from nearby Springfield that was a National Record Holder in CC/Gas back in the late 60's. It sure was fun to watch that thing run. A few years ago when I was down at the Turkey Run with Junkyard Jeff I saw a Prefect Drop Head Coupe ( I hope I got the terminology correct). He was waiting to pull out onto Ocean Blvd and I first thought it was some aftermarket kit because of all the different fiberglass Anglias offered. Then the thought was that it was something that the guy just cut up. I tried to get Jeff to go ask the guy what he was driving since my feet were sore from walking the big swap meet but he had no interest. I ended up running out into traffic and stopping the guy and asking what it was. As I got closer I was thinking it was some sort of a Ford Model Y with an Anglia nose grafted on but the guy said hat it was an original steel body and came as a convertible. It's the only one I've ever seen and just wondered if there were many of them over there. It made a really neat hot rod and I'm surprised no one here is reproducing them. It was Kind of like part custom and part race car with the Anglia herritage. Seems like about all the Anglias here are done up like the the old racers, SBC with a tube frame. When I was just out of high school there was an Anglia or Popular (I'm not quite sure of the difference except the years) all stock in a garage not far from home. It was all steel and had the flip down turn signals. Man I sure tried my best to get that thing but no luck.

hi eddie yes we call them pops sit up n beg model, they had many variants of grills and front panels, even down to the van models as the post office over here had them even having rubber front wings(fenders)as the post office drivers were and still are prone to driving into objects.we have a drag race over here called the outlaw anglias, purely all e93a/ shape, pops anglias, then there were them that were made in aus/nz they made them as utes (pick ups)there are quiet a few over here,a majority runing v8s a fellow rodder round the corner from me has 1 he runs a 383chrysler in his ,they were quiet a few around and still very popular excuse the term, you can buy glass panels for them here plus there is a company that just does that shape/model they are called "pop browns"

My daughter spent 3 weeks over there last summer. She went on a school deal. She started in London but spent most of her time up near the tip of Scotland on the west coast at some Sinclair castle. She had a great time but I'm still paying for it. santa

Hi Stretch! Greetings from Ohio. Around these parts gas is between $3.60 and $3.80 a gallon for regular grade. A twelve pack of Miller Hi-Life in 12 oz. bottles will set you back around $7.99 at the grocery store. The prices go up from there. Coors and Budweiser are around $10 or $11 for a twelve pack of bottles at the same place. It's spring and domestic beer seems to be about a dollar cheaper right now than it was a month ago.
