Newport Police undercover cars

As most of you know I'm tied in good with the city politics and I'm the co chair for the crime watch program here. I have been wanting to post pics of some of under cover Newport cars but couldn't up to this point. Newport did a drug sweep a few months back and yesterday they did another one. Yesterdays sweep netted 9 drug dealers and when you get 9 on one sweep that means that they will end up with about 15 to 20 arrested from these want to be thugs rolling over on each other.

Some deals where done in siezed drug cars. I hear people telling me all the time that the police are not doing their job and they never see police cars coming down their street. I try to tell them otherwise but when your streets are being patroled by plain clothes cops in cars like this how could you know and you can't tell anyone that directed patrol is even working for fear you will blow their cover.

These cars are not being used anymore and are on the auction block being sold. That the only reason I can show you these now.
Would you think PD would be driving this?

This next one is funny. I seen this sitting in front of a known drug house a few doors up from me. I walked down the street and checked on the huge flower pots I put at this end of the block. Someone had tossed a big rock in one of them so I picked it up and was taking it back to my house to throw away. When I walked by this car I seen someone in it. I figured they were there to buy drugs so I figured I screw with them. You can't see in the windows so I ducked down to look in the windshield. The driver stretched out so I couldn't see his face. The window is top tinted. I walk around the car once before going in the house. This normally is enough to keep a doper from coming back. When I get in the door I get a call to let me know that's a cop.  I guess he was worried I was going to chug that big rock through his windshield. lol

Last one is the one I like the best. I bet some of you locals have seen this one. It sticks out but you wouldn't think Johnny Law was driving.

You don't see many dark tinted window vehicles around glasgow.

I'm not too sure but I think even the windshield has some light tint plus the blackout strip at the top. They are very dark windows all the way around.

I've seen the blue Acura.

I'm not involved in any stuff going on in Newport since I moved but the Chief and I are friends so I stop in from time to time to say hi. I seen their new cop car today. I wish I had my camera. Newport now has a military Humvee. This is not a street version but full military minus the roof gun and camo paint. It's painted black with Newport Police on the side. This should freak some crooks out. What's better than that?? 2 more military Humvee are on the way to be added to the PD fleet.
