Well since we had a long debate on schmucks... I thought I'd recommend Dallas at the o'reillys in erlanger on Dixie highway.....he goes beyond his way to help you out. Locking nut key on my truck crumbled in a million pieces. Dallas spent ten minutes trying to find a replacement key.....

O yeah by the way. He's helpfully every time I'm in there.

Yeah the schmuck that but them on the truck tigh itened them 2 tight soon as I find a key they are going in the trash

I always used vise grips. That or cover the wheel and spot weld a piece of scrap metal on them and you have a handle. The heat will help too.

Uh, I'm a Schmuck then! I have locking lug nuts on every lug on my ride.

Way back in the early 70's I had a brand new set of Cragars stolen off my then new Maverick. I got some McGard "Tuff Nuts" to put on it. They sponsored Jim Oddy's A/GS Opel at the time. I guess they worked since I still have the rusty rims laying in the garage. I haven't had rims or tires worth worrying about in years. The locking lug nuts would cost more than the rims and tires are worth.

Hey Doug, I think I found your Maverick at Pull-A-Part. It still has the Cragars on it. They have the most excellant "patina" now! If the centers didn't have chunks broken out I might have tried to get them off.

Oh man, I had a beauty! It was sprecial order BLACK. I had to pay extra and wait until they did a fleet of them. My Dad thiught it was crazy that I had tp special order black since that's all he could get on his first Ford. It took over four months for the order. I put the Cragars, Lakewoods, Sun blue line gauges, air shocks, fiberglass hood and the 8 track all on it at the Ford dealer. That was pretty cool. I put the four speed in a couple of months later. Loved that car and ran the crap out of it. The end came when I pasted a Lincoln in the rear end. Broke his taillight lens but my front bumper was so low that his bumper pushed eevrything back to the water pump.

Now back to the regularly scheduled BS.

Hey, if there are still som flats on the nuts, you could try the new Craftsman sockets. The work like a champ on rounded corners. My son bought me a set for Christmas, and I have used the snot out of them already. Either that, or try an impact hammer with a center point. You may be able to split them enough to get some kind of leverage on them.

I have a set of stud extractors I keep in my junk yard box. They are made like an inside out EZY-Out. I haven't found locking lug nut yet they won't get off. They work great on bolts or nuts that are rounded off or half rusted away, even square if they're not too big. I bought them years ago to work on this rusty, junky farm equipment I have. I' sure you can get them larger but my set goes up to 3/4 inch. Big enough for anything I've needed so far.

I looked at his wheels last night. These would be hard to get off. The key is broke from where the guy he bought it off of strong armed them putting them on. The wheels don't help either. The the lug is set deep inside the billet wheel and the wheel itself has this funky spike sticking up right next to the lug nut hole. It's would be a job. I'm not sure you could get an stud extractor in the rim to even grab the locking nut. If I couldn't find another key and try it I'd get some heat obsorbing paste/gell and and put it around the hole, cover the wheel with a welding blacket and weld a rod to it and use it like a handle to spin it off. I'm sure that would do it it but it's scaring with those wheels. They are hi dollar, gold chainer, billet rims.

These are on "The One"? The ones I have aren't the big fat ones. If a socket will fit in there these will. I don't remember what brand they are. I'll look later when I'm out in the shop.

Guess again I haven't searched in the rght spot. I've gone 2 flea market, harbor freight, and sears...... just today looks like I need to go to Lowes for the deep well extractors....

I know I'm starting to sound lik a broken record but these things have saved my sanity more than once.

Ariel is speaking the truth here. Those extractors are what the thieves have now as well, so locking lugnuts are useless for anything besides not allowing you to get a wheel off when you want to - like this situation. Buy the extractors, get them off, deposit them in the scrap pile and put some decent normal lug nuts on there. They also don't look retarded like lockers do.

Yep. If I was a scumbag thief I'd be using them.
