Scary stuff!
A guy I went to school with just posted this picture on his FaceBook. He said he was trimming grass and looked down and this snake bit his boot. He killed it and snapped this picture. He said he thought it was a small copperhead.
It's hard to tell from the angle of the picture but it does look like a Northern Copperhead to me too. Without seeing the rest of the body it's hard to tell. The young ones have a yellowish tint to their tail. and they are a shorter snake that what is normally around here. These can kill a small person or a kid pretty quick.
What's scary about this one is where it was found. Kevin was cutting grass at the Dayton High School football field when this one struck his boot.

Howie that's right at your house. I'd tell the kids to not be picking up any snakes out of the back yard.

From my wife (who is a herpetologist)...In the US if they have a triangular-shaped head they almost always venomous. Better to be safe than sorry.
