The owner of the Beneficial Loans building is a very close friend of mine. It was a candy store in the 50's then the loan place, jewelry store and now a mini mart. One of the last of the ol' timers here in town. He can tell you some stories but he won't Very Happy

i LOVE THIS PICTURE. my grandma lives right next door. we was at poopys all the time getting penny candy. i tried to zoom in on the cars to see if any was ours but no go....

Very cool. If anyone remembers that was not only a car show. The cars were on the right side and booths were on the left fill with food. 90% of it being Chili. It was called the Newport Car Show & Chili Cook Off.

Saw this on the way thru Newtown on Old 32. I remember stopping here with my Dad when it was a TC station 40 years ago. Don't know if they had better gas or not, but they did have girls in bikini's pumping gas.
