Laughing I think he's beating himself up some. I look at this stuff as my artistic outlet. What I see in my mind always doesn't jive with the customer. That's why I normally just build what I want and sell. In the end it's theirs but it's hard not to do what I want or think is right.

David put down some of the sound deadening and heat covering. Good ol' peel and seal Smile . It will make it more comfortable to drive, that's for sure. So far it's just under and bind the seat. At least we can get the seat back in now and out of the garage floor.

Having a few issues with the engine. It was taped up good so I don't think any water got in it but she's locked up tight. I have ran into this before. Most of the time it's no biggie. We put a little Marvel Mystery Oil in it a few days ago and tried to turn it but no luck. I figure it's a light surface rust from condensation. I use a whole bottle of PB Blaster in the holes. A day later I went back and put around 12 oz. of Marvel Mystery Oil in each plug hole and a cup in the intake. I can see the fan jump about 100 of an inch when I move it so I'm not too worried. I'm going to leave it sit and soak. I may grab a bottle of ATF and pour it in there today. I think I could turn it on over but don't want to take a chance of cracking a ring. A figure a few days and it should be fine. I hope! Shocked
If she fire up she's going to smoke like a freight train for 20 minutes. lol

I managed to get the brakes all plumbed and even gravity fed the front brakes enough to get a pedal. Worked a little on the bed, tossed on some mirrors, battery and cables, and worked on getting the clutch pedal stuff hooked up.

Just dunked a quart of ATF in it. Being under freezing outside doesn't help any. I may get some fuel and point the Ready Heater at it before trying it again.

I been too upset to post any progress. 2 steps forward and 10 steps back. I will say that the engine and transmission was full of water. I wouldn't put another 6 banger in the truck. We should have went full blown hot rod to begin with. A 350 Chevy is on it's way in but even with that we still manage to have sit backs. The trans that David bought was full of metal shaving when I took the pan off. I was so bent I'm glad I didn't go with him to get it or I would have went back and pitch it through his window. I grabbed another trans from a buddy. So we have almost everything to get the driveline in other than a rearend.

It's sad to think that the truck has not even been given to his Grandpa yet and by the time it's done it will have had 2 frames under it, 3 engines, 4 transmissions and 3 rear ends. God help me.

Sounds like it's been a build from H.E.L.L.... I'm sure David appreciates your help and instruction! Your right Reb, the weather absolutely sucks and you all are braver than I would be - working outside in the bitterly cold temps, which always makes the job more difficult.... The truck really looks good for what has been done in such a short time frame.

Sounds like one of my projects. I know David appreciates everything you're doing. And his grandpa will love the truck and the stories that will accompany it.

So far the stories are better than the truck. That will change when the cammed 350/humper heads and mild stall speed rips the back tires off for the first time!

Dang Steve (and David) I am sorry to hear about the bad fortune on the engine. Sad A real shame. Steve, will you just salvage parts off of it then (the damaged engine)? You guys keep the faith though...this is a heart-warming story and project, fellas.

Blue Eyed Devil wrote:Honestly, I'm kinda glad it didn't work out on either one.  $4500 for that grey truck is far too much and $7k for the orange one is RIDICULOUS.  Money could be spent much better elsewhere.  Let both those crooked briars piss up a rope and find a really decent truck for that kind of money.  They aren't that hard to find!  I will keep my ear to the ground for a good one...

Sure wish David would have heeded this advice. I'm not as dumb as I look sometimes. affraid
