Re: What's everyone doing?
I've been hammering on a '58 Plymouth Belvedere I took in on a partial trade for my Malibu Wagon. It's been on the road quite a bit over the last few weeks and is rapidly approaching daily driver status...

Re: What's everyone doing?
Well been working on Shelly's TA and trying to get it all together for the TA Nats August 23rd-24th. We are going to show it for the 1st time. Heads and cam were done last weekend. The engine and tranny are going back in on Saturday. Tomorrow I am going to a friend's house to sandblast the headers so that I can hit 'em with VHT flat aluminum paint on Friday after work.
Also been adding a few more of my collectable stuff in the garage and cleaning it more and more hear and there. Got my license plates up finally as well.
Made my To Do list for the Corvette...LOTS to start on there come September.
Been very busy at work in three departments all of this week. So I'm feeling a bit mentally worn.
Later,
Lee

When I haven't been working, I've been dodging the rain to prep the harley motor and other things to get ready for the freshly painted body parts.

Finally been able to make a breakthrough on the project and get it started. I wish I was located closer to you guys to bounce some things off you. Trucking ahead as fast as I know how (at about 1/3 the pace of most).

Re: What's everyone doing?
Oh ya - I can not believe it is almost August... Where did the summer go?!
I had a lot more weekends free when family and friends were 4 hours away. I feel like I would be near done with the truck if I had not have moved.

Re: What's everyone doing?
I spent all last week at the Butler county fair. Kids had rabbits, chickens, turkeys, and goats. I was busier than a one armed wall paper hanger on a windy day.
Finally started pulling tranny out of Tahoe last night, it's only been sitting since April

Re: What's everyone doing?
Yesterday and today I been sanding, primering and painting rims and cutting wide white walls for the 49 Chevy. Now if I can get someone to put the tires on the rims without messing up the paint.

Re: What's everyone doing?
Started on some body work on the wagon, roof rack and chrome ribs coming off the top and holes being patched. Need to replace some of the rear wheel studs. That's a Thursday job. Tomorrow my youngest (Tabi) is getting baptized!

Re: What's everyone doing?
I told Randy today that I could take a greasy rim or one that doesn't matter and slip a tire on perfect but give me one with nice paint and I'll nip it every time.Blue Eyed Devil wrote:I wish you were closer Steve I could do it for you.

Completely two different looks when the pearl is seen and when it's not.

Re: What's everyone doing?
Just tore down an old garage at my Mom's yesterday. Actually, not just any old garage. It was the garage (a little one bay hole in the wall) that my dad ran "Ray's Garage and Welding" out of, back in the 50's and 60's. He also had a junkyard back in my early days (early/mid sixties). Near as I can fathom, the garage must have been constructed in the 30's, it had an extra 6 feet added at one time, and once the old wood clapboards were stripped off, there were the most beautiful hardwood (maple?) plank all down the sides on the original part of the structure. Many 10" wide, some 12", and a surprising number of 16" planks. I stripped those as well, and am cleaning and saving some of them for some small personal projects, but there has been an explosion of people around here using vintage hardwood, and similar barnboard type items to give their new digs that "homey" look. A lot of old memories got torn down when that thing finally came to the ground. Spent many an hour out there learnin how stuff worked, and how to weld, and how to fix stuff. At one time, in the late 60's there was even a chrome drop axle tucked in the back corner that dad was going to use for his Model B hotrod that he never got to build.... don't know where that axle ever disappeared to. Prolly sold it when I wasn't home one day so I wouldn't know. The house and this garage structure were moved in 1971 to make way for NYS route 17 (now 86). It was set on an old barn foundation at the time of the move, it has done fairly well over the years, but some shifting, a poor roof, termites, and mother nature in general, has caused a rapid deterioration in the last few years. Time for it to come down. Surprisingly, the roof itself all came down intact when I pulled it over after the sidewalls were stripped. Now stripping the roof off, and sending it to the construction debris landfill for disposal. Lotsa work......
