66 Chevy long bed truck
Picked up this 66 Chevy truck this past Friday. My grandfather bought a 66 long bed stepside brand new. He didn't stop at a stop sign one day and was t boned. That was back in the early 90's when I was a kid. This truck is just exactly like his and since its a long bed I was able to pick it up pretty reasonable. Just need to go through the suspension, engine and brakes and enjoy it like it is. Need to fix the bottom of the front fenders.

Re: 66 Chevy long bed truck
The truck was just over 100 miles away in Tn. Cleaned the plugs, points and rotor button. The truck started to hit but thats as far as I got out in the cold. I may lower it a little in the front and put blocks in the back.

My neighbor has a 65 long bed step side in her pole barn,I do not think its worth restoring so since I do not have a beater truck might have to see if she will sell it.

There is a woman that lives across the road where a couple of my cars are stored and her late husband drove a 65 chevy truck. its rusted all to pieces.

Re: 66 Chevy long bed truck
Im diggin it!
And I believe I reckognize the yellow truck in the background of John B's pic. If its a Kentucky truck its probably toe one I run into at a gas station outside Elizabethtown on my way to Beatersville last year.

That picture was taken at the Pumpkin Run in 2012, so it could well be the truck you're thinking of.

Re: 66 Chevy long bed truck
Got the truck running last week just after the cold spell. Started pulling the rubber floor mat and insulation out and the truck needs cabs corners and where the toe board, front floor pan and kicker panel meets.

Glad to hear you are working on it! Pics are always cool. Nice to see an old truck get saved like this one.

Re: 66 Chevy long bed truck
Replaced all of the wheel cylinders and brake shoes except the right rear., New fuel tank. Pulled the drain plug in the oil pain and found a little bit of antifreeze and oil turned a light color. Going to borrow a tool that puts pressure on the cooling system and see if I have a blown head gasket or cracked head.
