A build on the 32 Frame...project Cheap Banger
ok...I found a running driving 32 Frame with a modern 4 cly motor, hooked up to the all stock running gear, even has muffler!....NO body at all, then I found a 29 Rodster body with top, opening doors and rummble seat.....so Dash...gauges....windshield will be needed, so, can it be done UNDER $4500......What say YOU....

Re: A build on the 32 Frame...project Cheap Banger
I don't believe that I have ever used the phrases "on the cheap" and "UNDER $4500" in the same sentence, especially when referring to a car project!

Heck, you can't buy a Pinto for 4,000......like everything...it all costs more..
Re: A build on the 32 Frame...project Cheap Banger
Yeah it can be done and it's a money maker. Do some thinking. You you channel the body over the frame don't use that 32. Sell it get some $$$ for it and build a frame out of 2X4 or grab a set of A rails. If you are going to build it so the frame shows you should have a killer looking ride if you keep it period correct. That is hard to do on a budget if you don't have some stuff laying around.

Re: A build on the 32 Frame...project Cheap Banger
I guess you know you will have to pinch the rails and all that jazz. If you need any help let me know. Looks like a fun build. With that frame it wouldn't be bad idea to grab an A metal body. $$$$$

They say that that body will fit the 32 frame...still thinking Track Nose with a hood......yes, make it look like a 1956 build...
Re: A build on the 32 Frame...project Cheap Banger
I'm not sure. I thought you had to pinch it. Someone else may chime in and let us know.falconwagon62 wrote:They say that that body will fit the 32 frame....

Re: A build on the 32 Frame...project Cheap Banger
Well, it's kinda hard to build a track-nose T with a Model A body.
Regardless, The '28-'29 body will not fit the stock '32 chassis properly without pinching the rails. The frame is much to wide at the firewall for the narrow '28-'29 cowling. The bottom of the cowl needs to be trimmed for the upsweep of the frame and the subrails need to be trimmed out from the doors back and reworked for the "bump" in the rails over the rear. The rear frame horns need trimmed and finished, or if you plan to run a stock '32 tank you will have to do a lot of cutting and rework on the below decklid panel. All that and more. Believe it or not there is quite a bit of work that goes into fitting a Model A body to deuce rails, especially a '28-'29.
The question - What say me about putting it together for under $4500? Unlikely for a tradionally styled car. Depends on what you have in it already, what you need and what you want the final outcome to be. Also depends on if you are going to be counting things you have on hand or just items you need to purchase. Are you including things like consumables? Total costs can be really tricky to total...

Pinch it will be...Talked to Mike Wagner today, and a few others...I threw it out for trade for a proper Track Nose trade if some one wants this 32 frame, they can have it, as long as I get what I need, otherwise...where is my Saws-All....I got the blades!!! LOL....Yes I have LOT's of parts and stuff laying around and will use it or sell it off, going to start a MAJOR clean out after the Falcon Nationals.....I will sell junk and buy junk I need for this project....Going to start that 153 Chevrolet motor this weekend..i hope....

The nose on that red car sucks. Makes the front end look like a big red dildo. The one in bare metal is much better - flows with the lines of the car and uses vertical bars to emulate speed at a standstill. That's how it should work...

That red one, is Richard Flint's and has been considered one of the best ever, built in 1950, and is the grand daddy of alot of cutting edge stuff....62 years ago, real old school.......Funny, you can say dildo, and Richards real name, beep's it out!!! The other one, is another guy who is trying to talk me out of cutting up the 32 frame, but if that's what I got, that's what I am using.....I will be picking up the body in a day or so....but not going to do much for a few weeks....

The one with the bare metal front end looks more like an old Indy car. It think they were Millers, not real sure. It was before they made the one's with the laid down Offy's. It might even be the old Novi's I'm thinking of. I thought that most just used the front like an old Sprinter. Never seen one with a front like the red car.

I know the car and it's history very well. I am also aware 1950 was 62 years ago. No matter what some people may consider it, I still think it sucks. It's not a personal insult or anything. There was a lot of stuff built back in the day that was incredible, and just as much that was weird and out of proportion. Did it inspire some cool stuff? Obviously. The other guy's car is a good example. It works very well. But the red "dildo" nose is totally wrong for that Ford. If it was a wide flat streamliner, maybe, but not on a tall narrow A Model.
You can make that '32 chassis work and work well, but it will need quite a bit of work. I would say use it, because nothing looks better than a '29 body fit tight to deuce rails and in the weeds. The reveal makes it. If you want it really slick looking lop the horns off and pinch the rails all the way in to the hoodsides. Nothing says racer better than that...
