Jesse James Outlaw Garage Empty Jesse James Outlaw Garage

Post by RustyKarr March 31st 2012, 2:58 pm

Back in early '09 Steve Stewart and I made a trip down to Texas to pick up a few things. While down there we swung by Austin Speed Shop and Steve talked them into giving us a shop tour Very Happy In which they gladly did, while we were there we checked out Jesse James' '51 Merc Twisted Evil along with some other rides. I think it'll be a cool show to check out.

"Jesse James returns to TV with new “Outlaw Garage” show on Discovery April 9
Discovery Channel, which was the home of Monster Garage from 2002-2006, is welcoming their fabricating (wink wink) star back for the special “Jesse James: Outlaw Garage” on Monday, April 9 at 10pm ET/PT.
According to TV Guide, the special will serve as a pilot and will feature Jesse James at his new home in Texas working with The Austin Speed Shop on rebuilding a 1932 Ford Roadster in a matter of weeks."

I seen on tv where they where going to do that show. It has to be better than the bike shows that are on. Austin Speed shop was a cool place to wonder around and listen to some story's. That was a nice trip. Next time we need to stop in at Brian Bass's shop too.

Anyone who knows the Austin Speed Shop knows what a joke the challenge is. Those guys are some of the best. I respect the work that Jesse James does and his achievements, but he knows that the true car guys know, that this show is just more Discovery fluff. Honestly, if he wasn't 100% confident in guys like Bob Bleed he wouldn't have recruited him to come to Austin in the first place.

All in all, I'll watch it. Gotta be better then American Kareoke ... I mean American Idol or Dancing with the Stars

I agree. Half those guy with unlimited money, all the parts stocked up and the tools they have could build a pristine 32 in half that time. It's not easy but it could be done. I don't think it should either because of stress and cutting corners you normally would not cut but yeah it's more TV drama.

Bobby yucked it up for the camera a little. He got his finger cut and it looked like a little scrape to me. He had one of the guys put a stitch in it for him. I hope it was just for the camera because if they pull the whole crew in to watch Bobby get one stitch in his finger for that little cut they would freak in my garage. Stick some friggin' tape on it and get to work! It was a paper cut. I don't even bother stopping with little cuts like that.

The HAMB became unbearable with all of the (BEEP) kissing before the thread finally was shut down. I know it was just a show and the IROC looked pretty nice to be abandoned, but to insinuate taking parts is o.k. off an abandoned car just because it does not run under its own power? WTF? Jesse running things, but showing up late, the 32 Roadster needing body work....we do not see shit with that, just a finished body. How f'ing lame. But I guess they thought it was a good thing watching them putting lug nuts on and screwing around with the drive shaft.

I know it is just a show, and yes I will probably watch more episodes, but it is just another so-called (fake) reality show. If this was someone equivalent to Boyd, people would have tore into this show on the HAMB.

He's right on though. I wish they would have showed more. I like the show but I like anything with cars in it. I'm sick of watching the bike builders and their bickering back and forth about who in the right, Daddy or Jr. Rolling Eyes

I like what Jesse Builds. He builds some nice stuff and I find myself watching his show.....But I'm not a Jesse fan...In his mind it's always somebody else's fault. Reminds me of some of my owne Family.

Boyd Coddington passed away several years ago, if this is who you are referring to. Although Boyd Coddington Jr., Coddington's Son has been making wheels for a little over 20 years, I'm not sure if he decided to take over his Dad's shop.

Boyd and Riggs have a special relationship with each other. Jonathan use to save a place for him to sit when he was having dinner, when he was alive that is. He may still be doing it for his son. Very Happy
