Re: The Next Project
Got out @ 7:30 this morning & completed the removal.
Trany, rear, & torque tube dropped & Pressure plate, clutch & flywheel removed. Clutch dosc really doesn't look all that bad, but as usual with the oem LS clutches, the pressure plate just got soft.

Re: The Next Project
Got the new PP & FW back from Johnny Davis this morning. Need to get the old pilot bearing out before I bolt the new stuff in place.
Guess I'll be spending some time today finding tools and a few seals on the rear end I forgot to buy. Probably wont actually be much progress today.

These are the couplers on the drive shaft that I wanted to look at before I put it all back together. They look fine. I'm not touching them. If it ain't broke, dont fix it and always apply the KISS method - Keep It Simple - Stupid.
Rear Rubber Coupler.
Front Rubber Coupler.

Freezing the Pilot Bearing so it'll tap into the crank easier in the morning.

Re: The Next Project
The Billet FW was zero balanced by SPEC and the PP was zero balanced by ACT, but the photos show the weight removed from the PP by drilling material away to get the two zero balanced as a unit. This is the reason I'll never put another clutch assembly in without having it checked locally.

Re: The Next Project
I always clean the FW, PP, & Disc with Brake cleaner to get any residue off. Clean it off the car & then again on the car or just before buttoning it up.
Assembly all torque in place with a touch of blue lock-tite.

Thanks Johnny.
Don't know why but I just thought about the tunnel plate and realized now would be a good time to upgrade. The OEM piece on the mine is a thin piece of stamped steel and there is a solid aluminum aftermarket piece that's ceramic coated to reduce cabin heat from the exhaust and stiffen the frame a bit. Went ahead and ordered one this evening. Maybe I'll have all of the parts to put it back together by next weekend.
