I was going to buy a fiberglass one, no fabric to ever fall on your head!
Re: 1987 Monte Carlo SS Areo Coupe
Got it out today, after Edgewater, cleaned it up a bit, read up on the lock up converter, reached under the car and unplugged it, then Vicki and I drove it out to dinner, maybe 35 miles round trip, not 1 time did it stall, carb is a POS, those year Q-Junks suck. A reman unit on eBay 230 so I will buy one and see how it runs, it drives nice, and everthing works, I need better rear speakers, and the AC needs converted to R134 so all and all, I love my Monte!

Re: 1987 Monte Carlo SS Areo Coupe
Spent Saturday working on the Monte, bought a brand spanking new Holley 600, electric choke, had many Monte guys tell me to stay with the CCC QuadraJet..after spending $280 buck on a Re-Man unit, and I couldn't drive the car a mile, it would not take-send gas..I got PO'd...installed the Holley, and within 2 seconds, no kidding, 2 seconds, it was puuuuuuuring like a kitten......then another problem popped up, it was ticking...loudly! So I took to a buddy of mines shop..he did a motor flush, said it looks like the PO's NEVER changed the oil, another 250 bucks, but the car is running GREAT, drove it 100 miles today, shifts smooth, and it was a pleasure to drive...needs a Flow Master exhaust system now....here the stock one puffing....so another 500 on it, but its drivable.....
Thinking of going up to Mikes Montes if anybody wants to go, I am going to get the ABS hedliner for her....maybe Thursday or Friday.....if he's open...

Re: 1987 Monte Carlo SS Areo Coupe
I need to get one of those Holley carbs....my Monte has been running VERY rich the last few times I have taken it out. I get the same story from other Monte Carlo owners on those stock carbs.
