into your Garmin or Tom Tom and head that way on May 15th. The Carter County Cruisers will be hosting a Top 20 Car Show starting at 10Am and ending at 5PM. The reason behind this show is to help raise money for the upkeep and restoration of this Rowan County landmark. I can speak for the active club members when I say that we are honored that the people from the Community Center have asked us to help out with this project.

so here's the details...

Date - May 15, 2010

Time - Registration will run 10AM till 2PM - Awards are at 5PM

Registration Cost - $10.00

Awards - Dash Plaques to the first 25 entries...Top 20 Awards with some specialties

Games - Thats right we're playing alot of Games at this show, so bring the family and we'll do our best to entertain them. Push Rod Drop, Fan Belt Toss, Corn Hole and more to come. We'll even do Muffler rappin' if people ask for it.

Are we done at 5PM? The car show part is, but then activities move inside the gym for a Sock Hop...

Starting at 6PM (I'm sure they will actually let you in a little earlier though) The Community Center will be hosting an authentic Sock Hop. $5 at the door and loads of fun.


This is a great location people, ask Steve, he'll tell ya.

If you want to make a weekend out of it, hang around the next day and go to The Phelp's Lodge show in Morehead proper.

This is a long haul Denny. Almost 2 hours away. Amy and myself will be going. I'm not sure if anyone else up here will go or not. Everyone is getting the final tunes on their cars for the big race the next day. Anyone else wanting to drive down???

I plan on going Rain or Shine, being this is for a good cause. Unless it's canceled. I Mapped Quest this and I realize it's a ways down there. That's cool! Just let me know when and where that you would like to meet up.....Oh yeah, if anyone wants to ride down there with me, give me a shout. I have room for ya...Steve, my last long haul was 527 miles one way, so this will be like a field trip.

Yeah, it's supposed to be nice Friday afternoon into Sunday morning. So I'm looking forward to taking a cruise and meeting some rodders.

If you don't mind, Janet, Gauge, and I will meet you here. It's the Goddard White Bridge on Route 32 about eight miles south of Flemingsburg.


As a side note, my parents and Janet and I both own campers in the Fox Valley Recreation Area in Wallingford, Kentucky. We will be camping there Friday night through Sunday afternoon. If anyone is interested in staying and/or making this a stop on the way to or from the show let me know, you are more than welcome.

I will be leaving my house around 9 or 9:30. Denny I can meet you at the Waffle house or where ever you want along AA Highway. I'm not sure if we will stay all night down there. I don't plan these trips out. That is part of the fun of it to me. We just go and get there when we get there and leave when we are ready. We visit with friends and shop in the mom and pop stores while we are there. It is like our mini vacation when we head that way. Greg I can meet you at the bridge if you want me too. We will be running a little late if you are wanting to get there early to get a good parking spot I understand. If not I'll catch you on the bridge.

Whenever you and your family come into the Waffle House parking lot on AA, rev your engine or something and I will come out. As far as taking off and running down there alone, won't happen, being I travel with the CC. I don't know my way traveling the state routes, unless I have a passenger helping me out with directions. If I travel alone, I take the interstate!

I like not making plans as well, but the last few times I took off without making plans, proved to be bad judgement calls. Now, I try to get ahead of the game! I'm not a good driver at night when I'm tired, so I usually will book a room if I think I might be driving at night more than a couple hours drive.

I also will be going to Edgewater on Sunday to watch everyone race, although I'm not sure when the CC is going to be there.

We are heading out Saturday Morning around 9 or 9:30. If anyone else wants to go we are meeting and leaving from Waffle House in Wilder around 9:35. This is a nice ride up AA and then through the country side. Very nice country setting and a smooth and sweet cruise to get down to the car show. This trip is one of my favorites because you don't have road hogs sticking to your bumper. Very relaxing and a good get away from the city. The show is put on by our brother club Carter County Cruisers and there will be a sock hop afterwards for anyone wanting to do some dancing.

I am all loaded and ready to head to Wallingford, Kentucky at 5:30 p.m. I can't wait, nothing like a weekend of camping and spending time with friends!

As a side note, for those with "trailer queen" comments, I want to see you drive eighty seven miles at 45-50 mph with a fourteen month old in the backseat! I will be driving it from Wallingford, Kentucky to the show.
