1976 or 78 ford f350 truck
A neighbor wants to sell his 1976 or 78 ford 1 ton flatbed. 400 engine. Manual trans. Runs and drives. He used it to haul water when he set tobacco in the spring. He is not raising anymore. He wants $1000 and I'd say he is firm. Located outside of glasgow, ky

Re: 1976 or 78 ford f350 truck
My dad and I was over at his farm looking at some farm equipment today. I'll see if I can get back over there and take a couple of pics. Truck was a short bed regular cab. I saw a little rust spot atr the bottom of the right fender. Truck color is blue. I'm not sure about the rest.

Re: 1976 or 78 ford f350 truck
I'm interested if it's not a rust bucket. I don't mind some body work as long as its not too bad. Those where bad for the rear cab mounts and brackets to let loose from age and rust. If it's not too snowed in check it out for me. See what kind of milage is on her and if the motor looks like what it came factory with. Thanks for any help you can give me on it. It's hard to deal on something being far away.

Re: 1976 or 78 ford f350 truck
From what I remember, there wasn't a bunch of rust on the truck on the outside. I didn't look over it real well. I'll craw underneath it. All the snow is gone around here. . I'll ask him on the engine and check the miles. His farm hand use to drive it all the time but he wanted something better on fuel so he bought an early 90's nissan 4 cyl truck.

Power steering. Power brakes. He said he had to put a small piece of metal in the front floor pan. It wasn't very big. All four cab mounts and their support/channels didn't have rust. Rockers were all there. Rust in the right door but doesn't effect the driving. Brand new radiator. Where the floor goes into the rocker needs to be fixed. The pictures shows this. The truck also has a gooseneck hitch.
Driver side cab mount
Driver side floor pan rust I was talking about
Driver side rear cab mount
Driver side rocker just to show that it is all there.
Pass side door rust
Pass side rear cab mount
Pass side front mount.

Re: 1976 or 78 ford f350 truck
Wow Jonathan. It looks really good in the pics. Did you get a good look at the front end? It looks like the bumper is bent in the picture. Just wondering if it hit the fender when it bent the bumper or was it just the bumper.
I need to come down and see it. Is there a way to get a hold of him? I am booked this weekend and next weekend we have a meeting on Saturday. I may be able to make it down there this week, through the week day but I'm not sure yet what day I could break away.

What do they charge you for plates on a one ton in KY,do you have non com like we have in Ohio or do you have to license it as commercial. Up here we have non com for 1/2 and 3/4 tons at one price and one tons at another and I dont think a 1 1/2 could ever be licensed as non com and then all trucks can be licensed as commercial if used for a buisness

Re: 1976 or 78 ford f350 truck
I used to keep 12,000 pound tags on my 1 ton but a few years ago Ky said if you didnt have it in a business all you needed was a regular car tag. Even the 1/2 trucks that always had 6000 pound tags all have regular car tags now....junkyardjeff wrote:What do they charge you for plates on a one ton in KY,do you have non com like we have in Ohio or do you have to license it as commercial. Re: 1976 or 78 ford f350 truck
Every county and city have different plate costs up here and I think non com for 1/2 and 3/4 tons are about 70 dollars and non com for a one ton is about 100 dollars or more and commercial for the larger trucks go by the vehicle weight, there is something about the GVW on the registration for commercial but I have no clue on what it involves since I never registered a truck as commercial.

Re: 1976 or 78 ford f350 truck
We have generic tags that are used for cars and non comm but they are not the same price, commercial tags are still specific. When they changed to the generic tags I was hoping that the non com would be at car price but no way Ohio would do that.

Re: 1976 or 78 ford f350 truck
We are lucky in that, unless it's use as commercial we don't have to have them anymore. car and truck are the same.

Re: 1976 or 78 ford f350 truck
Do you have to pay the property tax when you get the tags and is it based on a value or some other figure,I think Indiana does the same and I am suprised Ohio has not tried it since they are hurting for money. We now have the 20 dollar late fee if you are 7 days late which might be eliminated due to many complaints.

Re: 1976 or 78 ford f350 truck
If you have two cars and you owe taxes on one you can't get tags on the other untill the taxes are paid for the first one. Sell the car January 1st you owe a years worth of taxes even though you only owned it 1 day.

Do you owe taxes on a vehicle even if you do not drive it.
