I'd paint that thing all one color, including the insert and the roof. Personally I wouldn't lace it or stripe it or anything. $.02

Re: Amy's 57 210 wagon
Amy and I have been talking about it. She wants to do a very mild 60's style custom. So it will have some striping, wide whites, little lower, and maybe a grill swap. We will see. This is not going to be a traditional build. It will be upgrade with a nice sound system, disk and power brakes will also be put on, as well as a few comfort items for the long hauls. Anyone have a 57 Buick grill laying around?

Re: Amy's 57 210 wagon
We got the back rims on. It took 3 of us to do it but we got 'em on. The old rallies were stuck in the 1/4's. Lucky it had air shocks on it. We had to pum the shocks all the way up, pull out on the 1/4 and wiggle the tire side to side to get it out. Thanks Chad and Riggs for the help.

Did ya let the air out of them first? They come out a lot easier that way.

You could have just cut the fenderwells out and used 55 Nomad wheel wells.

How about: Straight axle, day glow green, yellow windows, Radirs all the way around, and that sparkly vinyl interior. Lettered down the side: The Wild Wild Wagon.

Lower it with chrome reverse wheels and thin white walls. Make it simple and clean.

Re: Amy's 57 210 wagon
I been thinking about the window tint. I run window tint on almost all my cars when I was younger. With the older cars I really don't like the look. I have fought from putting it on the last few cars I owned. The 34 didn't have windows but the 48 and the old 61 baked me with heat. The bad part is my eyes are so screwed up that I have to wear sunglass all the time. Even when it's not that bad you see me with wrap arounds. Driving the 61 and the 48 to shows where the sun was facing me was rough. I get headaches and the show sucks because I feel bad. The 61 was real bad. The metal trim and the dash flew the sun at me. I came close a few time to tinting all the windows in the 61. I managed to just get by with a strip on the windshield. I didn't like the looks of it at all but it kept alot sun out of my face and eyes. The problem with the wagon will be the same as the 61. All that shiny painted metal plus a half white interior will make it worse. On the way home when we got it I had to let Amy hold the wheel while driving down the highway while I unbolted a tach that he had put on the upper A pillar. It wouldn't let the sunvisor come down. So I will let it ride but if it gets to where it's rough to get out in it , it's either get rid of it or tint the windows. I'll have to see how much sun come through when it gets more sunny outside.Blue Eyed Devil wrote:xycho_wraith wrote:tint the windows

Re: Amy's 57 210 wagon
amen..LOL Anyone that knows me should know I do what I want. If anything I've had to take a beating for doing it "my way" Like I said I don't like the looks of the older car with blacked out windows. I'll have to wait and see how bad it is. Some are worse than other. The 61 was real bad compared to the 48 plymouth. Just some cars let in too much light for me.

A lot of wagons are like driving a greenhouse with all the windows.

Re: Amy's 57 210 wagon
to hell with what anybody thinks or says
That's pretty much my take on everything. I was just saying how bad old cars look with grey/dark tinted windows, which is agreeable. Safety/driveability issues are a different thing altogether, and I don't think there is any question about how much this car will be driven. That being the case is, IF it is a neccesity then by all means do it. How about this Steve - Since you are wanting to do a 60's kinda vibe anyways, go with some blue tint. I think that would lend itself more to the look you are after and also help with the glare issues. Just a thought. Anyhow, I am sure you will do it your way no matter what, and that's why I like ya. Haha...

Re: Amy's 57 210 wagon
The car will not stay blue forever. I'm just not sure when I will get around to changing the color. I already thought about the colored window tint. I have a huge box of red By the way if anyone wants to try some of this red tint I have enough to do about 40 cars. So if you want to play just scream.
I'm going to let the windows ride for now. It's hard to say how it will pull the light in. It hasn't been very sunny down this way. I'm hoping I won't have to even worry about it. I like the look of the white and black interior from the outside of the car. I guess time will tell.
I need to change the rearend or put an overdrive trans in it. This thing is humming going down the highway.

Is it possible that it is the tires doing the humming? Or don't you like the song it is humming?
